Yes, the G remote is metal and feels higher quality. Neither remotes are backlit.

@Paul in Maryland , the "face" of the G remote is like a brushed aluminum, whereas the H remote is the same, but black (like @boostmiser showed in his pic).

you know @Paul in Maryland , @*UFO* is right; I hadn't done a side-by side yet, and turns out the G remote is in fact metal (notice the SONY at the bottom is raised on the G), and the H remote isn't:

That’s sexy.

What size of the x950H do you have?
Are you in the USA or overseas? That might determine the remote.
What is the part number for the remote?

Thank you!

It's not my remote and I don't own this TV so I can't tell what the part number is. Those images are from Polish review of 65" X950H (KD-65XH9505) - https://hdtvpolska.com/test-sony-xh9...na-2020-rok-2/.

I got the standard black non backlit version as well...I askd HDTVTest on his YouTube comments for the part number of his remote so I can order one, but never got a response. If someone knows an owner of a backlit remote, the part number is undeer the battery cover.

See the settings in my signature...increase brightness to your liking, and increase color from default 50 if you want more saturation.

Correct, the US X950H remote is the black plastic remote that feels like a $5 universal remote from an outlet clothing store.

Yep I got the black basic with my 85 as well, tbh it’s not terrible compared to the LG I had before.

I use my remote in the dark 90% of the time, and I cannot tell you how often I hit the wrong button because the button layout is chicklet...I will pay up to $100 to order the backlit remote as a service part.

After a bit of sleuthing I was able to find the exact part number for the backlit metal remote. RMF-TX611E, also listed as RMF-TX611. Good luck finding somewhere selling it. If you do please post back. Id like to buy one as well. Thanks

Source: https://www.sony.pl/electronics/supp...d-/kd-55xh9505

And I think the new 8K Z8H also comes with the metal backlit remote part RMF-TX611U

RMF-TX500E - RMF-TX600E (E=Europe)

RMF-TX500U - RMF-TX600U (U=USA)

RMF-TX500 look like the cheap plastic version

RMF-TX600 look like the metal version

Backlit version ?

There is a RMF-TX611U.

Z8H | Full Array LED | 8K | HDR / Included components may vary by country or region of purchase: RMF-TX611U, RMF-TX611B

Backlight feature (RMF-TX611 remote control only)
NOTE: You can disable the Backlight feature by simultaneously pressing the Volume (-) and HOME buttons of the remote control for 2 seconds. The Microphone LED will blink twice when you do this.

In the US TVs are at a lower price apparently also in the equipment.

Basically, Sony's website says that "This feature is available on TVs over 55 inches."

Excellent information on the remote!

I believe we will need to wait until the Z8H comes out. On the Sony accessory website that remote model is not there.

Here is the website I used.

Sony 49 inch 950H Questions

I recently purchased the 49 inch Sony x950H and have a few questions on the all of the settings. I watch TV in a bright room and only watch streaming services (i.e. youtube, hbogo, prime, disney+). So far I really like it but I really need help understanding the various settings.

1. I really need help understanding the Sony motion settings. I prefer as little soap opera affect as possible and more of a natural film look. I've seen several different recommendations such as :
A. Turn everything off
B. Turning motionflow off completely but leaving cinemotion on auto.
C. Motion flow on (smoothness and clearness on min) either with cinemotion on auto or off
D. Motion flow on (smoothness min and clearness on 1 to activate Sony x-motion clarity) either with cinemotion on auto or off

2. This is my first HDR set. I love the color and brightness. Sometimes in HDR it can seem a little too bright on things like explosions. Is that intentional - should I turn brightness down or leave it on max

3. Can you assess what my settings are for SDR/HDR (given I watch in a fairly bright room)

SDR:
Custom, no light sensor, brightness 35, contrast 90, gamma -1, black level 50, black adjust + adv contrast + xtended dyn range = off, local dimming = medium, color 50, color temp = warm, sharpness 50, all noise reduction off, motion?

HDR - pretty much factory default with a few modifications
Custom, no light sensor, brightness max, contrast 90, gamma 0, black level 50, black adjust + adv contrast = off, xtended dyn range = high, local dimming = medium, color 50, color temp = warm, sharpness 50, all noise reduction off except smooth gradation on low, motion?

UPS does not hadle TV's that big usually, will probably go commercial freight. I would guess they will contact you for an appointment.

The 950H does have a wider viewing angle, loses a tad of contrast though. Depends what you can find I guess.

If by "tad" you mean more than half, yes. Not sure how Samsung can use a wide angle filter that not only doesn't affect contrast much, but also performs better off axis. Sony's version does not perform much better than an IPS panel.

It said the same for me. I’m not in a rush so I pulled the trigger and will wait. Either I get it from them or I will get it from the USA store once the Z8H is in stock.
