Anyone care to count my zones?

Yes, the camera captures it exactly how my eyes saw it.

Spears and Munsil zone counter video shows the 49" X950H has 5x5, 25 zones total, so exactly the same as the X900F, which explains why the HDR blooming is identical. SDR bloomin gis much more controlled...so good in fact, I cannot even photograph it, because i cannot see it with my eyes at all either.

I would be asking where is the remote it was supposed to ship with.

Mine came with the new skinny longer thinner remote...not baclit...it's much longer than it needs to be, but I guess they want a grippabl;e area where your not mashing random buttons in the dark and to help differentiate top from bottom.

This TV is really meh for me in the 49". It costs 4x of the rest on the market, no HDMI 2.1, no VRR, and no AALM, and with all its problems doesn't even have a backlit remote. I'm kind of regretting getting this TV; it looks OK but missing a lot of features. Hoping they can salvage things via firmware updates.

What features are missing? Personally,I don't game, so those features don't mean anything. The backlit remote, again, not a game changer.

I am more interested with how it looks, especially in SDR, since 95% of my viewing is from sat., the remaining would be from the OPPO 103.

I just want to know if the Mediatek chip is new or last year's. Android tv keeps me in the Sony ecosystem. I extremely dislike the others.

My X950H looks IDENTICAL to my X900F in SDR...in HDR, it appears to have a slight advantage, but SDR, can't tell the difference.

Go to the Google Play Store and install Aida64 and it will show you the CPU. Would be awesome as I still haven't found it.

Not really sure what I am looking for, it doesn't say Mediatek on any of the 500 pages of information...is this the CPU maker or what?

Perfect, yes it has the MT5893 chip which is the same as 2019 model. Will be interested to see if the 900H with hdmi 2.1 has the same one or not.

So after living with the new TV for a few weeks (sold my X900F for $500 cash, paid $1100 22 months ago, $1 a day ownership lifespan cost?), I can say it is warming on me. The most noticable difference is still the 720p upscalling on US ABC and FOX I am seeing. It really makes the 720p look like 1080p on my X900F, so the processing is much better in that respect. I would expect this processing to be even more useful the bigger the TV is. 1080p looks the same as my X900F though, but local dimming and blooming in 100cd/m or so light levels is still non existant. HDR looks pretty enough, the slight boost in peak luminance really isn't noticable over my X900F, but it is very nice to have Dolby light and dark easy to select instead of digging through the menu to adjust the gamma slider. If you install the Calman for Bravia app, you should be able to see two new Custom picture modes, Custom for Pro 1 and 2. These are the same as Custom, only you can make them your day/night SDR or HDR presets, just put the same settings as you would in regular custom. You don't need to calibrate the TV to add the Calman app to the Android OS.

The latency lag is still very very irritating. With Dolby Digital audio via ARC to my Sony AVR, the horrible latency is even more apparent, and mouths move after I hear the voice, and if someone knocks on a door or similar, you will hear the knock before the hand hits the door. Switching to Game mode or 1080p 120hz eliminates this, but you shouldnt need to be in game ode mor 120hz to have audio sync in cinema or TV modes.

I fixed my apps audio cutouts by restarting the TV in the menu. One note on apps audio, there is a setting I believe factory set, that when you hook up to an AVR over ARC, out of the box, the TV Apps wont pass the audio. I think it is the sound passthrough option? This needs to be changed to get ARC for apps. I get DD+ for apps, but cannot cmment on Atmos because I have a standard 5.2 Sony AVR that doesn't have eARC or Atmos.

The only other issue I have with the TV tuner, is that sometimes the tuner will only show coronavirus news coverage. I will attempt to change channels, but it will always be showing coronavirus. Not sure if a future firmware update can resolve that. :-|

I swear I'm not trying to troll with the following comments... I'm in the market for a 2020 TV, most likely 85". I told myself after CES 2020 that the Vizio P Series Quantum X would probably be the best bet. HDMI 2.1 is important for me. We still haven't heard anything from Vizio yet, but we have the X950H from Sony out right now. And the X900H gets HDMI 2.1... so why would anyone buy the X950H? Why not choose between the X900H and the P-Series Quanum X?

Not everyone buys a TV based on first person shooter framerates...the X950H just dropped in price again, $200 off the 49" and $500 off of the 85"

Yes if you aren't a gamer then 2.1 isn't going to help at all. I wish they had 2.1 in all models but since they don't I will be getting the 900H.

I'm legitimately asking about the appeal of the TV. Is it the X1 Ultimate + wide angle viewing? Or are there other benefits?

It's Sonys top end LCD TV, and most people point to Sony for the best motion handling...it's got the Sony name on it, so thats a huge point for many many consumers and enthusiests, who may not want to go to off brand that they have never had experience with. I sort of fall into that category myself...although I used to buy Samsung when they were the best at mid size (40-43") LCD TVs until around 2015.

Im always annoyed by gaming being thought of as specifically first person shooters. I play Forza and other driving games and while 120hz would look smoother, we don't have issues with latency and don't need to swing a mouse around to a pinpoint spot on a screen at 240Hz. I can't even run Forza from 2016-2018 at max settings in 1080p 120Hz on my OC GTX 1080 Ti. :-P

I absolutely love the Sony design, and most of all Android TV. I really dislike the LG and Samsung operating systems etc. Sony makes a great TV and usually gets great price to performance metrics.
