Look at it this way.

X900H better blacks

X950H brighter HDR

X950 uses older SOC and cost more.

As a gamer going into the next gen consoles/PC I can't in anyway recommend a X950H and surely not over a X900H a HDMI 2.1 TV with Sony's next gen SOC.

Mainly movie watching? Id recommend a Z9F or Z9G if you can find one.
Agreed, the SOC alone makes the 900H the better option. Add in the cheaper price and I'm all in on 900H.

Right now, compared to an X900H:
The 55 costs the same ($1200).
The 65 costs the same ($1600 at Crutchfield) or only $100 more ($1700 at Best Buy).
The 75 costs $300 more ($2800).
The 85 costs $300 more ($3800).

I expect the X900H to greatly outsell the X950 so expect the 950 prices to drop.

I am holding out for November prices for the 900H, will line up with the ps5 release as well.

Pulled the trigger. I was going to go with 75” but since there’s a sale, I went with the 85”. Only $600 more than 75”, or $300 more than what I almost just paid, I can justify that price difference. Delivery is the 11th.

Anyone else wondering if they’re “testing” the pricing? Seems like a lot of the new releases keep coming out very briefly, then selling out. Just feel like it’s as much price-checking before mass production because having this year’s sets collect dust like last year’s sets would be very difficult financially for the makers.

Also seems like last year’s sets are on the verge of clearance pricing but won’t be as many to clear out now that some were purchased with the recent price drops.

Definitely VA! The blacks are pretty impressive on the x900h.

just got an email from my dealer, Value Electronics that the price of my two 55" X900Hs dropped to $999 each and they are shipping tomorrow! Here's all of the new prices for the X900H TVs. Other than no sales tax from some dealers and other perks I believe all retailers will honor these new sale prices. I copied this from another forum.

- 85X900H Retail $3,499 On Sale $2,799

- 75X900H Retail $2,499 On Sale $2,199

- 65X900H Retail $1,599 On Sale $1,399

- 55X900H Retail $1,199 On Sale $999

Where's the best place to buy the 85"?
Amazon has 4 year warranty for $131
Value Electronics is $279

or forget about the warranty?

Is it better to order online with no sales tax?
or get from local dealer?

I would personally buy from Value Electronics to save tax and just buy the square trade warranty from costco. It's cheaper than either option. That's what I have done with the last few tv's I have purchased. I even had to use the warranty on my last sony tv and had no issues with square trade.

I am leaning towards just ordering the 85" now. I currently have the 85" 900F but I want the HDMI 2.1 feature for the PS5 in the fall. I was going to wait but with the sale price out the gate (and the fact I can sell my tv locally to cover a large chunk of the cost), I might just do it now. As long as the 900H is close to the 900F I will be happy.

Outside of 120hz, VRR, EArc and Hdmi 2.1 is the 900H a worthy upgrade this year?

I play mostly on PC these days. I do however like my Playstation franchises.
I'm thinking I could hold out another year. The likelihood of any game taking advantage of these new features in 2020 (Gran Turismo 7 maybe)
is slim to none.

Thanks

Thanks, @DroidX . A 10-minute online chat with a Best Buy agent just netted me a $318 refund on my 75.

Forgive my possible stupidity, I've never even heard of this place. They are a legit place to buy from? Price seems to good to be true.

Been contemplating the 85" 900H and at that price I can't pass it up, just want to be sure it's legit. Really wanted to buy from best buy to get point but they still show "sold out". The savings would be way more than the points anyway.

Any idea how long the sale is, and if maybe best buy will match and I should wait?

Edit: best buy has the same price now, just shows sold out online. Probably because they don't have them in stock yet and they don't allow pre-orders on tv

If you take a look online, all the stores selling the 900H models are on sale for the same price so I assume it's a Sony thing across the board. Yes they are definitely legit and an authorized sony dealer. Cleveland Plasma is another one I would highly recommend.

Best Buy has it for this price also but like you said it is sold out (I assume that's just a placeholder and they will have stock this week). I am not sure how long the price will hold but I would assume a week or more. I will probably just purchase this week as I don't want it to go back up. I wanted to get my 900F sold before I purchased but I am confident I can get it moved in the next week or two.

Crazy. All sizes except the 75" are currently sold out at BestBuy. (The prices almost seem Black Friday low!)

It makes sense. The Sony X900 series has hit the sweet spot for features and price for years. Now that the X900H has HDMI 2.1 and a fast processor that makes it's Android OS snappy, it's one of the best TVs you can currently get.

Especially if you want a big TV. LGs 80"+ TVs are IPS LCDs with terrible contrast and brightness. Samsung only has one HDMI 2.1 port, no DolbyVision, and has been removing features from it's 4K sets to put them on it's overpriced 8K sets. VIZIO might have a winner on it's hands with the mighty 85" Quantum X, but they are not out yet.

At least we have multiple choices for big HDMI 2.1 TVs that aren't insanely priced this year. First year ever. Something good about 2020.

I agree on all points. I think this is the tv for 2020. Vizio maybe but their panel issues are out of control. I am getting a refund on my p759-g1 after going through four with significant issues. I will say customer service has been top notch though and I’ll likely reconsider another Vizio at some point.

I spoke with best buy and nothings sold out they just don't have them released yet because technically TV is not out until Friday (not sure why 75" is available though)

I was looking at those vizios as well, they sound great but with no date or price I wasn't sure. Plus I've read some people say you play the lottery with Vizio sometimes they work great sometimes not.

I just pulled the trigger on theb85" 900H from Value Electronics. I wanted to wait for best buy to get points but best buy would've charged me another $200 in tax where it seems VE has free shipping and no tax. I put it on my best buy card though so I'll still get some points

So excited to get this!!

Did you call in to order or just do the sale link on their site? I am leaning towards just going with them for the order.

I'll probably pull the trigger this week as well. And will also go Amazon because of the hefty amount of credit I've built up having purchased other items through Amazon and not spent the cash back. I'll definitely forego the warranty extension touted on Amazon, though. Reading through the reviews it sounds like a terrible option. I'll check out the Costco thing, but I doubt I'll do an extended warranty. I used to sell electronics and extended warranties were basically free money for the company I worked for. Generally speaking, anything that will go wrong with a piece of electronics will go wrong during the manufacturer's warranty period. And a lot of things that go wrong after that (accidental damage, etc...) aren't covered anyway.

I heard that these prices will last at least until beginning of July. I'm not 100% sure but that is what I'm hearing. I'm just waiting to close on my house next Monday and I will be ordering the 75 inch.

That's what I love about the costco square trade warranty. It's a fraction of the price of typical extended warranties but with all of the benefits. It is a no brainer to me. I had an issue with my last Sony (75" 940c). They took care of me and I had a new tv within a week. I agree that if you are buying one of the normal extended warranties, it is a harder sell as they are really expensive.

Did you call in to order or just do the sale link on their site? I am leaning towards just going with them for the order.[/QUOTE]

Just through the website, checkout via PayPal
