No one is missing anything...

LG's 2020 prices are way down - the 65" CX is $2,799 - last year it (C9) came out at $3,499.

And LG didn't "dumb-down" anything this year - just the opposite.

Is it crushing blacks like the 2019 models ? Black crushing and the lack of DV are the two big issues I have with Samsung.

For those wondering why the Q90T has less dimming zones than the Q90R, its in the way Samsung labelled the TV's this year. The Q90T is similar spec'ed to last years q80r; the Q80T=Q70R; Q70T=Q60R and so on. There is no direct replacement for the Q90R. For that you would have to move up to the Q800T 8K which I am guessing would be close to the Q90R except for the bump in resolution.

"LG's 2020 prices are way down" ???
Because EVERYONE is SCARED of BURN IN if you just spend $3000 for a TV and in year gonna call LG support for screen replacement LOL.
My coworker just bought 77" OLED and cost for him $5500, boy, he's so scared don't even taking lunch break anymore...

Haha I assume you're joking (but not sure ).

FWIW I was worried when I first started researching OLED sets. But then I read that after 9,000+ hours of real world OLED burn-in testing RTINGS has concluded, "Our stance remains the same, we don't expect most people who watch varied content without static areas to experience burn-in issues with an OLED TV." https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real...d-burn-in-test

If anyone is super worried about burn-in then get the Best Buy extended coverage, it covers burn-in. For most users watching varied content, an OLED set will probably be way obsolete before it's burnt out.

OTOH, if you play the same Xbox game 9 hours every day with the same HUD onscreen, or if you never change the channel from CNN, then maybe an OLED is not for you.

It does of course. There's no other way to obtain decent blacks with fewer amount of dimming zones.

So this year, Samsung is only giving 4K buyers what they wanted: 96 dimming zones.
So, I'm very happy, that I bought qe75q90r with 5 years warranty and free sounbar, just a week ago .

HA! Sounds like an excellent decision. If people just accept that the Q90T is the upgraded Q80R, then there would be no belly aching about the loss of the flagship 4K as people weren't buying the Q90R last year anyway - unless the plan was to wait a year and get it discounted like you!

You can’t say always. Example the Sony 930e was an edge lit and it beat many FALD sets with the zones in terms of black level performance. Let’s wait to see reviews before jumping to conclusions.

Every year qleds are supposed to be oled killers at this time of the year. But once the tv's come in and side by side comparisons reviews show up, the reality becomes clear. A tv with 100 odd zones like the Q90T will have a hard time keeping up with a pixel level control tv in a dim or dark room. Last year, Q90R with higher zone count looked respectable next to oled in a bright viewing environment, but in a dim to dark viewing environment it was clear the oled was definitely better.

Funny, that is exactly where I got what I typed - off RTINGS and the same compare tool.

The Q90R (vs. the Q80R):

Higher contrast ratio - 50% higher
Higher SDR peak brightness - 20% higher
Higher HDR peak brightness - 30% higher
Better black uniformity
Larger color gamut
Larger color volume
Etc., etc., etc.

Apparently the Q90T also does NOT have the OneConnect box.

I somehow missed that until now. So yes - substantially dumbed down from the Q90R.

So far all the "hands on" from multiple sites read like a commercial. Looking forward to some real reviews.

I don't Samsung has any plans to incorporate Dolby Vision into any of their products. They always do things their way. QLED is by Samsung as is LPS (instead of IPS like everyone else call it (computer monitors)).

I bought the 2019 65" Q80R and now I need to get a 55" TV bc it's too big. Should I get the 2019 q80R 55" or get one of the 2020 models? Or even a 2019 Q90?

There is no 55" 90R.
This points out that sometimes manufacturers think buyers who want smaller sizes want less features. No ! Sometimes we just lack space for something bigger. We'll take the premium product if it's offered in the size we need. Auto manufacturers have learned this.

Due to the limitation of blooming control due the wide angle layer, Samsung may have found a better way to control contrast by manipulating the picture in other ways with more powerful processing. Application>parts.

I am disgusted by samsung deceptive business practices this is a Q9 with Q8 specs. The prices of tvs are going down but samsung is taking out features out of the tvs while keeping the price up. Look at the big price drop lg did with their oleds.

Yes. In Europe q90t, q95t.
In USA q90t only.
I think Samsung wish you in USA to buy 8k model, more likely, then Europe will buy.
Any way, this is Q80R with new name.
Q90R have no successor in 4k.

Well - I have a prediction. With everything going on in the world right now - the economy will be sharply down this year. Whether it will go into recession or depression is a question at this point, but there is no question there will be a major downturn.

I expect the Samsung games to push people to overprices 8K TVs and dumbing down the 4Ks and not even having the dumbed down top 4K model in the US - will end up costing them a lot of sales/revenue. Let's see.
