I just have a hard time believing that the 90T has a better picture than the 90R and Q9FN - with only 96 zones...

I really want it to be true.

Reports so far indicate that its roughly equivalent in performance to the Q90R of last year, but I'd imagine that the Q9FN will remain the 4K QLED to beat. We'll likely have to wait until Vincent from HDTV Test gets his review unit before we know for sure.

Worth upgrade from Q7F?

Hello,

I've been reading various articles, watching FOMO on YouTube, etc. but it's hard to derive a hard yes or no on upgrading. I am due to upgrade (I signed up for their upgrade program) but disappointed hearing this year's is a stripped down version of last year's, yet I read from reviewers that it looks as good if not a touch better. So I am at a loss, for me especially since local dimming wasn't that superb on the Q7F (from what I've read). Would you all recommend the upgrade? I cannot afford their 8K models right now.

Thank you!

The Q90T is almost assuredly an upgrade from the Q7F.

Thank you! I thought it would be from my research at rtings.com but it's nice to have someone with experience to verify

Yeah that is where I'm at right now. I have a 55 q80t currently and we are going to move it to our master bedroom when we move in a month. I'm eyeing either the 75q80t or the 65q90t.

Yup, waiting to see if the Q80T has the same glossy screen as the Q90T.

Can't go anywhere to see it, so...

I was going to check out Costco to see if they have the Q8DT (seems to be the corresponding model to the 80T) in stock...

In the US, the Q80T has a glossy screen. I believe the model in the UK does not. The US version has the anti-glare ultra black feature (moth’s eye) as well as the ultra-wide angle view filter (same as the Q90T).

Would you recommend to upgrade from Q9FN ( 55 inches ) to Q90T - 55 inches ?
I use it only as PC monitor. Q9FN has some color banding / posterization
https://www.flatpanelshd.com/review....&id=1525936564
I don't know if it's visible on other displays, I recorded this with nVidia GE
https://gofile.io/d/Bls131
And I'm not sure if it's the TV or the software ( game ) the culprit on this video but even when I watch online movies ( PC is off ) I can see some green - pink stripes

Any advices are welcome, thank you

Looking for a 55" TV used 95% as a computer monitor for work and gaming, and it seems like the Q90R or the Q90T/Q95T could be the ideal candidate, but the Q90Rs lack of zones has me thinking of the 2020 version instead. Since the Q90R 55" had limited number of zones compared to the bigger versions, it it reasonable to assume that for the Q90T/Q95T the difference in image quality is much smaller for 55" versions? Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the 55” Q90R has ~240 local dimming zones, the 65” has ~480. The new 55” Q90T/Q95T has 120 local dimming zones according to Steven Withers, whereas the 65” has ~160 (again, according to Steven Withers).

However, the physical number of zones is not the whole story, the local dimming algorithm is also very important. In fact, a number of early reviews of the Q90T/Q95T suggests that it matches (if not surpasses) the black level performance of the Q90R despite a reduced number of zones.

With that said, I, like many others, are waiting for reviews from HDTV Test and Rtings.com before pulling the trigger on the new model. I recommend you do the same.

Not sure if anyone has posted this review:

It's for the Q95T but I guess its close enough to be interesting.

Q90T 55” model only has how many Zones 48 ? That’s ridiculous or 96 ?

Just asking.

Also since it has VRR what’s the range ? 40-120 or 48-120 ?

I'm using a 55 Q90T as a giant productivity monitor (as if it were 4 x 27" monitors stuck together). I'm about 3 feet or so away. I have no screen artifacts except for a little DSE that shows up if I drag a white Windows window around on the panel as if it were the Hockey DSE Test (and it's cleaner than my Q90R). It appears brighter than my Q90R, in fact, which is paramount to me. I can open up a 4 x 2K remote desktops without having to re-size or zoom, which is great for my work. If I lean back and kick my feet up on my desk, putting myself off center, the color doesn't shift appreciably. It's a bit too big for gaming, though, at my viewing distance--I'll have to game in a window or switch to my 65Q90R (which is about 6' away). It's currently a bit overwhelming--it feels "too big" but hopefully I'll adjust soon.

I went through 5 49Q80Ts to get here. They all had damaged panels or grey or black dead pixels. My first Q90T had a dead pixel, in fact. It had less DSE than the one I'm using, but I refuse to accept a dead pixel on a new panel.

The Q90T has Freesync Premium & LFC to cover you. Everything above Q70T has it.

Talking Get a 75" Q90R or 75" Q95T

Hi, back in my location, Im getting the Q90R and the Q95T (same as Q90T plus the one connect box) for very similar prices.

I currently have a 65" Q90R in my bedroom (opposite a very bright window) and i love the reflection coating. The black levels and colours are amazing and i just love the TV. I want to get a larger one, but not sure which to go for, the Q90R 75" or Q95T 75".

My usage is just watching Netflix and youtube (some 4k but mostly 1080p HD content). I am looking for great blacks, good reflection control and just a good experience overall.

Should i go for the Q95T 75" or the Q90R 75"? What are your opinions? I am vvvvery confused and would love some help! Thanks in advance for your response.

Thank you both for letting me know. I had been working off my local TV store's comparison chart and it is wrong. But now I am conflicted between the q8t and q9t in 85". I primarily went to this for the glare coating. Now that I know the q8t has it... I'm so tempted to save myself 30%.

I am coming from a VIZIO M 602 from 2014 with 32 zones.

2025 is a long time away... Arg.

More frustration setting in.

Just got back from my BB

They had both the Q80T and Q90T and Q80R. I love the picture on the q90T.. To me it didn't look as good as the q90r, but a little better then the q80r from last year as it seemed to control the blooming a bit better from what I could tell. Gonna place my order for a 65 inch one today and hopefully have it on Monday.

Bad pixels

My first 55Q90T had a bad pixel right out of the box.

The replacement developed a bad pixel after a week.

I've just come from a string of six 49Q80Ts that all had or developed bad pixels (one had 12+).

I'm considering swapping out my Q90T a third time, but after 8 bad sets I'm wondering if it's just not in the cards.

How are your Q90Ts doing? Is it even possible to get a clean panel this year? Or does Samsung have a quality control problem across their fleet?

Where are you getting them from, if it's from the same place in a short amount of time it could just be a bad batch of panels.

The 49Q80Ts came from ABT, Amazon, and Best Buy.

The 55Q90Ts came from Best Buy.

Some were FA01s and some were AA01s.

After eight returns, I currently have a 55Q90T with one dead pixel (that appeared overnight, after a week of use). I can live with it, but I don't like the idea of paying $1,700 for a defective product. I'm curious if other people are having successes. If Samsung is blithely pumping out garbage panels, I can wait until next year.

Well I'll know Tuesday, if I keep my order... after finding out that all the 4k models are 8 bit + frc panels I might be going OLED with a warranty for the same price as the q90t... I need to sleep on it.
