I have been looking at this set as well. The price is $300 above the 2019 model. I am not that tech savy, and couldn’t figure out if there was anything worth the fairly modest price increase.

This year the Nano 90 series sounds promising:

Have high hopes for this tv since their UI is much better than Sony, but picture quality has always been a let down in past years.

2020 LG Nano 90

So, presumably some folks have the 86NANO90UNA at this point, the 55” starts shipping on Monday. Any thoughts if you own it? This is basically a review desert so we’ll have to lean on you guys if you purchased it. I’m holding off to see how it stacks up against other TVs at this point but I think we’re a little curious to see how it performs with the Forbes article implying some improvements.

I don’t own it, but I think the panel is still IPS. If so, it’s never going to be great dark room/movie watching.

Find it strange that the 86” definitely shipped this week and got to some people but not one has posted a video, comment, tweet, etc. And of course you’re right, IPS can’t hang with high end VA but it’s still a curiosity to see if they could fix the dumpster fire 9000 from last year.

B&H has the 55” in stock now. Most sites targeted an April 27 rollout of this size. Someone go buy one, review it, and return it if it sucks.

Unfortunately, B&H doesn't allow returns of opened TVs larger than 37".

Still IPS panels as usual. Their "higher end models" are OLED.

Eaak what? The TV used in the comparison video was a SM8100 not a Nano 90 model.

LG nano tv has poor local dimming and the black levels look more like grey, hopefully they improved this.

Read the updated review, it sounds somewhat improved but not significantly. 32 zones concerns me, how does this stack up to the q80t?

For me that dude lost some credibility, he says that the Nano90 has 4 x HDMI 2.1 which is false - it has only two ports. I would not be surprised if the dimming zones are not correct either.

Anyway i think a Q80T is going to destroy this TV - picture quality wise that is. LG has still the better features.

Isn't the Q80T much more expensive?? The viewing angles are crap but of course better blacks because of the VA panel.

I'll wait for a more professional review.

$250 more atm, that $250 could get you a better TV though. Have to wait for reviews and tests of all of these. Just knock me out and wake me up in a few weeks once everything has been released.

there's still a large market for IPS LCD's in homes, LG's sales department has been touting stats around that for years (off-angle viewing at a price point). No need to change to VA as they have OLED's for the grey-black-phobic. I'm glad they are sticking to IPS, Panasonic's AX800 experiment years ago proved that they can be made to look good if one tries (that was right after they dropped plasma and combined their R&D). Sony & Samsung modifying VA panels trying to make them work more like IPS' though is a big challenge to the LCD off dead-center-viewing market though.

I am sure there is a reason it is open box. I would never buy a TV that is open box, especially an OLED.

Before buying from Visions i did some searching around and nothing but absolutely trash reviews for them, nothing but run arounds, empty sales promises, hassling customers, not honoring their 5 year warranty or trying to weasel out of it..

I went with BestBuy.ca and a Sony X950G as they had it new in box and my credit card gives me 2 years warranty already on it and 120 day accidental coverage on it.

Best Buy USA has the 55inch for sale in stock. Not at the store but can be delivered to home or store in a couple days. Like everyone else I am waiting on reviews/tests.

Interesting that there are two reviews now saying it's a dramatic improvement from 2019. I'm a little bummed it doesn't support G-Sync like the OLEDs, since I'm much more comfortable using a Nanocell as a computer monitor than an OLED.

Well the 2019 models where so bad that a dramatic improvement may mean mediocre lol. Hope it really is good. Looking to replace a 55inch in media room and I am looking at this tv and the Hisense H9G(whenever that is shown with specs).
