I was wrong, the virtual remote does turn tv off and then on again. Lesson learned. I was not able to access the service menu this way but I am not an expert. I am able to get it every time now with real remote I bought on amazon.

What do I look for to find out number of zones, it is scary in there? I went to each menu and nothing looked obvious

Right but what does the q80t mean? 20x16=320 zones? What does 3 next to it mean?

Mine says the same for 75q800t , 20x16 with a 6 next to it? It has to have more zones than the q80t? Attached is pic of mine

Yup its 320 zones. 3dprojectors picture shows the service menu of a 55Q9FN from 2018 its not a Q80T (which has 50 zones). A 55inch Q9FN has 320 zones.

So,if we believe in the Direct Full Array 32X thing, the 82'' should have more than 420 zones!

There was a review i believe where they said that the Q950TS has 480 zones. So i guess that goes for the 82Q800T aswell.

But i think 320 zones for the 65/75 inch model are very good and way more than i thought this TV will get - and if you think about what you have to pay to get a Q900/Q950TS over a Q800T it looks even better.

Yep,specially when considering the much improved dimming control algorithm.

320, doesn't sound good for 75" I thought, that model is not worst, then Q90R 75".
I just wondered how many in 82"?

I don't understand, why Samsung in giving misinformation on his website.
Clearly Samsung saying is direct dimming 24X.
On your picture visible is 20X, not 24x.

24x is just an indication of greater cluster of dimming zones and contrast rather than the exact number of them, the UK Q95T 55'' has 120 dimming zones, and it's 16X,see your self

scroll down to specs-vedio-contrast
120 dimming zones here:

Can anybody compare this tv to the Q900? Does it meet the 8k contrast requirement even though it has the wide angle tech? Is the VRR limited to 48-60fps when playing pc games at 8k? Upscaling improvements? Does it have noticeable blooming?

I will receive the tv on monday but this is what I can tell you.
1) It has the real 8k contrast of the pixel because the wide viewing layer was reduced.
2) FreeSync does not support LFC when working on 60hz so yes it will be 48-60fps (if it works at all in 8k)
3) Upscaling improvement - yes as long as you are not in game mode.
4) Blooming - from what I`ve read for the Q90t and Q95t blooming is barely noticeable, can be detected mostly in dark cut scenes and loading screens.

Thanks for the info. I would like to see a Samsung tv not have wide viewing angle tech at all to get the best possible picture from 8k, and I guess we have to wait until 16k becomes a thing in 2024/2025 with a new hdmi standard for 8k 120hz, and freesync from 20-120fps to be possible on a tv

I think HDMI 2.1 can do 8K with high frame rates but only with DSC (display stream compression). Also 8K gaming is way more out than 2024 so your wishes seem a bit unrealistic honestly. Id rather have every content on 60fps minimum, than having to use low framerate compensation.

My YouTube app still only plays a max of 4K. I search for 8K and it pulls 8K videos with a max of 4K. I do not think the app has updated in a while though and I cannot see anywhere to tell it to update either in app or the Apps part of tv.

The app on my TV has not been updated yet to allow 8K videos in YouTube. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and there is no new version yet. It shows a date of April 23 as the last update for youtube

Has anyone with this TV been successful with an Xbox one X, game mode and VRR enabled? Whenever I do this the games will play but the screen flashes every second or two and it makes it unplayable. The moment I disable these the picture is absolutely beautiful and plays smooth. I have every high-speed cable known to man and have tried them all and there has been no change. I do have it hooked up to port four which is the HDMI 2.1 port. Borderlands three as well as the newest call of duty are the ones this happens on.

Also there appears to be a handshake issue on Xbox one x, when launching a game the screen goes to a no signal screen for anywhere from 30 to 70 seconds then eventually into game.

Can someone else please try this and let me know your thoughts and if it works perfect for you?

For the amount of money 8k tv's are.. if they were available at 120hz now.. it would be great for future use and much easier to swallow the cost.. LFC for 8k would also be amazing because it would allow a lot more to be possible with current graphics card by getting a smooth gameplay at 30fps at 8k

I received my 75 Q800T today:

Pros:
* Picutre Quality - outstanding
* Game Mode - literally no input lag
* Game Motion Plus - excellent motion improvement at very little input lag (barely noticible)
* 1440p 120hz

Cons
:
* One of the screw holes of the tv was deeper and the screw couldn't be tightened (had to search for a loner one )

* Youtube - 8k videos - YES they play in 8k but the render quality is GOD AWEFUL, A LOT OF BLUR AND ARTIFACTS ON MOVING PICTURES
* You can't make the TV to run at anything above 60hz when using resolution above 1440p, I`m using GTX 1080ti And tried with resolution 3200x1800 120hz - nothing, 3200x1800 75hz - nothing, 4k - 75 hz nothing.
* Resolutions above 4k were working only on 24hz (on 30hz they were flickering as hell) tested 5k and 8k at 24hz they work fine

* Picture In Picture mode - THIS THING DID NOT WORK AT ALL, IT IS ALWAYS GRAYED OUT
- Tried with 2 HDMI sources (4 and 3) where 4 is my PC and 2 is my Galaxy Note 9.
- Tried changing ALL TYPES of sources from Console - to PC - to BlueRay on the PC and the Galaxy source, but the PIP option is still grayed out

* Multi View - worked only the first time, then it stopped after exiting and had to re-ling the TV to my note 9
I`m coming from KS8000 and so far i`m disappointed from the Firmware, it seems like a freaking alpha, i`m so pissed off!

On the Q90T thread someone said that PIP freezes the TV so they probably blocked it for now.

Multi view works perfect for me using an iPhone 10

How are playing 8k videos on YouTube? I use tv app, 4/23 date, cannot find any 8k. They say 8k but play 4K????
