[QUOTE=LG4k;59675328]twice the brightness and many more zones. Or, atsc 3.0 tuner and built in 8k youtube. Both can in theory do 4k 120 4:4:4 and vrr according to the manuals.

Hmm... I watch everything streaming, so either Netflix, Hulu or Prime, so I’m not sure atsc 3.0 will make any difference to me. The build in 8k YouTube could be an issue but isn’t it in theory possible to get around that with next gen consoles? I’m guessing they will decode that signal and send it to the tv for us.

The only thing that concerns me really I’m going though all the 900rb forums is some issue with the tv changing it’s brightness, almost like it pulses...

ha this is the owners thread and dont want to derail it, Im sure the q800t is nice/Im looking at the 85 q900t and 82 q800t as a possible upgrade in size. reading everything I can to see if 10'' extra is worth it to me. But as far as the q900r pulsing, I watch everything in standard, what they recommend to use the so called AI upscaling...anyway, its super bright, and stays super bright. Game mode is stable too. I also plan on using the new xbox for 8k youtube. Too bad we're in a time you cant look at both side by side and decide.

Thanks, yeah my goal wasn't to derail the conversation, just couldn't find what the HDMI 2.1 differences where between the sets... The more I look the more I think I'm just gonna rock the q9fn another year until things level out as I'm seeing more samsungs only able to do VRR up to 60hrz

dont blame you for waiting...for what its worth, the Rtings people got vrr to work while in 4k 120 mode, but couldn't test if it was working correctly or the lag of that mode...hope it actually works, but Im not going to hold my breath

No eARC on HDMI 2.1 port?

Hi,

I just have a question and wonder if anyone ever thought about it or can answer.
I know the port 4 is supposed to be HDMI 2.1 compatible or maybe even with 48 Gbps bandwidth (at least it must be as high as the 8K60 video bitrate)
However, only port 3 with HDMI 2.0 is marked as eARC enabled. Say if one day I get a new AVR with HDMI 2.1 built-in input/output and 8k60/4K120/VRR signal pass through. Obviously the port 4 on this TV will be the one connected to the AVR if I want to hook up any HDMI 2.1 source device through the AVR. So in this case, does that mean I will never get eARC and HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) with AVR anymore? If so, what is the solution or this is a just design flaw made by Samsung?

Thanks.

Finally a release date announced for the matching soundbar the q800t soundbar , June 5th.
I hope it can do what they say with using the tv as overhead speaker. Bring it on!

I can do just that with my 3 year old sony HT-CT290 soundbar that costs barely 150$, so basically you can do it with any soundbar.
And thank god you can use it because only the TV itself have no Bass, the sound quality is bad in general, especially on the low ends, so a sound bar is a must.

Trying to figure out if this is worth the jump from picking either this or the q90t for a pretty good deal I can get. I haven't really seen any comparisons between both sets yet and still no where, where I can check in person yet 😞

The HDMI port #4 was a mess. It would not handshake correctly with my Xbox one x or PS4. Other than that I cannot wait to have it again, you will be in love. I have never owned an expensive tv before, always within my budget which was 2k or less. I have saved for 2 years and this baby does not disappoint.

Also I would never go back to OLED. I did everything I was supposed to and after 2 years I had a huge amount of burn-in. This TVs blacks are almost on par with OLED. Watching Gravity and other space movies, stars are perfect and blacks look great.

Sorry to hear about your burn-ins. And no offense, but it feels like you are trying hard to sell this TV. Any decent TV today can handle SDR well. I don't expect any less from a TV of such caliber. HDR is where it matters, is what you pay that extra cash for. Lowered contrast ratio from wide viewing angles is not even on par with previous years QLED models without it. I still have KS8000 which beats it in blacks by a big margin. FALD is good, but still fails in difficult scenes and bleeds into black bars often. Right here is a good example https://streamable.com/fmfgos. Recorded in dark room, movie mode, HDR.

well, the tv arrived, it's bigger than I thought, had a 65 inch before, should I check Hdmi 4?? I use a receiver, and everything is connected there, and then Hdmi 3 earc, so far so good, just checking everything right now, had to lift it on a unit by myself, it's quite heavy, not sure how I managed it, arrived this morning, so will have all the afternoon to see how it works and looks

Have an awesome Saturday playing with the TV. It is always a good idea to test all the features and input of a TV even though you might not use it at the moment.

Struggling to decide between q800t 65 and 65 LG cx so if anyone out there had now spent a bit of time with their new qled and thinks it's a no brainer I would love to know because I keep hearing about soft images and oled having the edge on picture quality. I have had a b7 that suffered screen burn after 2 years but it was changed immediately without fuss - not ideal at all but the quality was fab so even with that risk I am not keen to jump to an inferior image . I want someone to tell me the q800t is great please ....

Same boat, people seem to be very happy with the q90t and I am wondering if this is worth the upgrade over it if I am going to splurge on this or even the c9 / cx

Ofc that the new Xbox and PS5 will do 8k youtube, it will be braindead stupid if they don't, they will also have some light indie titles playing at 8k30fps just to backup the 8k Marketing hype.

We have a decent promotion going for the launch of the 2020 line-up and have the 95T, 800T & 950TS for 30% off MSRP at the moment. Sad thing it's only into the end of today left.

I'm on the fence if I should buy the 65/75" Q800T at the moment. I was eyeing it as a possible replacement for my 55" Q8DN as I want 4K120hz capability & 8K upgrade. It's sooner than I would have considered but I won't be able to buy this TV for this kind of price for quite some time after this promotion.

I've read about reverse ghosting issues on the 2020 line-up i regard to VRR. Main use here so if it's a issue on the Q800 would be a deal-breaker. Q8DN 2018models didn't have such issues and I'm quite happy with it otherwise, was just a plan to go 8K when prices would become reasonable with HDMI 2.1 capability.

I can wait but the price is just too good to not consider a early purchase right away.
I would have to wait for gpu with HDMI 2.1 capabilities to use full functionality anyway. (only PC use)
