X950H vs X800H ?

Debating between these two for our master bedroom. X950H would be 49" while X800H would be a 43". $400 to upgrade to X950H. I'm agnostic on the size so focused on image quality. Is the image quality on the X950H likely to be significantly or noticeably better and worth the extra $400?

X950 over X800
- Direct Full Array vs Edge
- Local dimming vs frame

And

Thanks

Keep in mind that the X800H is an IPS panel set with grayish blacks with a wide viewing angle and no local dimming, which will not look good in a dark bedroom. The 49" X950H is an FALD VA panel with deep blacks and a narrow viewing angle that will look much better in a dark bedroom.

The short answer is 950H or the 950G are significantly better in the image department and overall features.

If you need a wide viewing angle in the bedroom then consider something from the 800 lineup.

Thanks all. Went w/ a 43" 800H in master bedroom (price + viewing angle), 65" A8G in family room, and 85" 900F in Rec Room along with a few LG 28LM43OB-PU's in master bath, kitchen, etc.

Can anyone give me an idea how good the audio is on the 800H? We'd planned a sound bar for it but I'm wondering if we should consider skipping it.

Thanks,

FYI in 2019 rtings.com said that x900g and x950g were almost the same TV and so it was better to save your money and just get the x900g. The same may be true this year and you could save some money that way, but check the specs (dimming zones, brightness, etc.) to be sure. Samsung is jacking up prices this year ~ the Q80T/2020 = Q70R/2019, and Sony may be doing likewise.

We own a Vizio P-Series Quantum X-65 and just bout a Sony 43x800h as a PC monitor. The Sony makes a better PC Monitor because it has an IPS display, but contrast ratios are bad (1050:1) v.s. vizio (5000:1 and 14:000:1 with the area dimming turned on). People considering the x900h and x950h should also consider the Vizio P-Series Quantum-X, but get an extended warranty (we bought ours through Costco to get an increased warranty), as some Vizios in years past have been problematic.

For sound bar I EXTREMELY recommend a Vizio 3651-f6, priced $180(sale)-$220(streetprice)-$149(refurbished). It's better than all other 5.1 soundbars less than $400. We found at Costco it was better than anything less than $700. If you have an extra $100 you might get the big brother, the Vizio 36514-g0, which sells for $299 sometimes.
