85Q95T or 82Q800T ?

Hello,

I m really hesitating about those 2. Money is not an issue.

Primary use would be movies (1080p and slowly but surely moving my collection to 4k).

Secondary use gaming, but not that much nowadays.

No news or sport.

Which one has the best pic ? Is the 1080p looking good on the Q800T ?

On reddit I keep reading how you should never buy a new tech first year, and that 8K is a rip off. Kinda understand that one, the content is super poor. I must say I don t buy to future proof. If in 2 years the content is there and I have to buy a 8K I ll just do it ; I m seeking the best picture quality.

Thanks for any input, def need some advices here ! I live on a very small island and there is no A/V dealer here, I can t demo those.

Cheers !

If money is not an issue go for the Q800T

1) 8k is no new tech for samsung, Q800T is a third generation 8k TV.
2) Q800T has probably 3x the dimming zones of Q95T.
3) 8k Is future proof, video content will start to appear in the next 2-3 years.
4) 8k is superior to 4k in Gaming picture quality if you can afford the graphics horse power (we are talking of 2xRTX3080ti that will come this winter with price 1500$ each).
5) You can expect longer software updates support on the 8k series.
6) Q95 has 8 bit panel, Q800T has native 10bit panel
LG4k likes this.

Is the 82q800t considered a "sub par" model ?

Hello,

Is the q800t considered a sub par model because it s the entry 8k from samsung ?

Or is it still a good tv ?

Would you go for a 85q95t instead ?

Ty !

Even if the Q800T is the entry level, is it a mediocre tv ?

Pretty much the title.

I'll will go for Q95T. Why? Becose there is no content for 8k, and there will not be for maybe 4-5 years.

I'm in the same situation and now I'm waiting for my 85q95t. It is bigger then 82, and the 4k content looks better on 4k TV than the 8k TV.

Games? Oh, the new generation video cards, than be anonsed later this year, like gtx 3080 don't handle the 8k resolution, you must by 3 of it to play this stuff.

New concoles, like PS5 and Xbox Series X also don't handle games in 8k.

You will do what you want, but that's my opinion.

I can game at 8k30fps with my GTX 1080ti on AAA titles from 2014-2015, 3080ti will be able to do 8k60fps on such titles and 2x3080ti will do 8k60fps on Modern 2020 AAA titles, and if you spend 4000$ for your TV for gaming you should be prepared to spend 3000$ for graphics power to benefit the 8k.

And no 4k content does NOT look better on a native 4k screen, it looks just the same as on the 8k TV.
It is same as when I compare my 1440p monitor and my 8k TV running at 1440p resolution - they look the same.

Q800T has better panel than the Q95 - 10bit vs 8bit panel and triple the Local Dimming zones

Kinda reviving this thread, still unsure about which screen to go. Anyone could tell me how is the 1080P / 4K upscale on the Q800T compared to a 4K tv ?

Cheers
