Here is the Japanese JVC web page that shows what appears to be their equivalent of the LT-46FN97:

I am seeing some pretty decent prices on even the 46inchers. Hope BB or CC will carry them so some comparisons can be made

Yes and the 40 inch LT-40FH97 is in-stock and available today, July 4, from several on-line retailers according to a Google search that I just did.

EDIT: Oops the LT-40FH96 is in stock and available today, not the LT-40FH97. Sorry for the mix-up!

The Plasmacity web site http://www.plasmacity.com/LCD_DISPLAYS/ALL_LCDS.htm estimates that the FN97 will be available on the 10th of July. Your wait may soon be over. Sorry, they didn't have anything at all on the FH97

Strange that JVC whould not have the set's specs posted on their web page. Maybe it will show up on the 10th, the rumored release date for the FN97.

BTW, your initial posts spoke of the FN97 as your choice. Why did you change to the FH97?

I am new to this forum but I just called JVC and a rep named Arnold told me that both the LT-40 and 46FN97 models were both released in June. I have also been following the Sharp line on this forum and sounds like their new models in September will be something special. Lots of tuff choices out there.

So, Donwan... Did it arrive? Do you have the specs? I'm dying to know. Mine is still on order with no ship date.

Ground. I can't even track it. Ah well, it was cheap and no tax since I ordered out of state.

I still need to get the cable installed, so it'll be another 10 days before I can tell you my impressions, but I will post the specs as soon as I get the unit. One would assume JVC will put them in the manual, right? It's still not on their website.

Not sure what to make of the Datavision site...shows the LT40FN97 as discontinued? Could it be the FN model name was a mistake and was never intended for release? I know the press release shows 'FN' but it still seems strange considering their model name conventions, never see another FN anywhere on their website??? Also there was never a good explanation as to the price diference between FH and FN.

Maybe I've got malaria.

Tape works in Texas now has all of these on the web, but no stock yet.

• JVC LT40FH97
• JVC LT40FN97
• JVC LT46FH97
• JVC LT46FN97

according to the web page:
LT-40FN97 lacks the RS-232C Control and Gold RCA Terminals and is cheaper than the LT40FH97.

I live in Houston and have been talking to them about pre-ordering the 40FN97. The guys over there are great but I'm not brave enough to give over my cc info yet, would really like to hear some feedback on the set before buying...if it exists...j/k...previous post seems foolish after checking out the link from original FH96 thread...

Could someone tell me what this RS-232C Control feature does? I've read that the RCA and Toshiba HD-X1 HD-DVD players on the market have this, but I'm still not clear what RS-232C is or what it does (even after I Googled the code). Help, this feature (along with the gold RCA ) costs $200+ more than the FN model and I'd like to make an informed decision.

The LT-40FN97 is black like the picture on the Jvc site and so is the LT-46FN97 (both look exactly just like the X887 or FH96). The price difference between the FN97 and FH97 is attributed to the gold RCA connectrors, the RS232c and new trim black with silver bezel on the FH97.
The PQ on the LT-40FN97 is as good as the FH96 and yes it does accept 1080P. specs are the same as LT-40X887 plus the one posted on TapeWorks Texas. My overall PQ impression of the FN97 is that it looked similar to the 40X887 only with 1920*1080 resolution. Now compared to the FH96, they are neck to neck maybe the FN97 edging the FH96. On a scale of 1-10 @1080i signal, FH96=9.8 the FN97=9.9, X887/787=9.9. Signal @720P, FH96=9.8, FN97=9.8, X887=9.8.
Sadly though, the old menu has not been changed so if you can live with it.....?
In conclussion, if you have your FH96 or X887 and can live without full 1080P resolution, then its excellent as far as PQ especialy compared to other manufacturers. Both Jvc sets match up evenly as far as viewing experience since you would be hard pressed to think 1080i looks better than 720P or vise versa (NOT ON A 40"). But if 1080P is your dose, then the FN97/FH97 is the way to go or if looks are something too go FH97. Blue ray 1080P or any true 1080P signal is no 1080i or 720P, it literary looks double the resolution PERIOD..........seen it.

I hear ya'. The thing I want to know is does the analog input on the 40FH97 accept a 1920x1080 signal from the PC? The 40FH96 will only accept up to a 1024x768 signal from the PC according to the set's on-line manual. I've pretty much given up on getting a 1920x1080 signal from the PC to the FH97 over the HDMI port because of the overscanning issues mentioned in the Samsung 4095 thread however I'd be satisfied with a well received analog input from the PC at 1080P.

You have the 40FN97 in your home?! Wow! Does the analog input accept a PC signal at either 1920x1080 or 1280x1024? Or is the PC input limited to 1024x768 like the 40FH96?
