I just happened to see this thread and was quite surprised to learn that modern newer 4k sets don't have the upscaling quality of our 1080p sets for cable, satellite and other lower quality sources. Another reason to keep mine for just a while longer

Well having replaced my Panny 55" ST60 (which has the exact same panel as the VT60/ZT60) with a Sony 55" X900E UHD TV i can tell you that my TWC/Spectrum Cable signal, OTA Antenna signal, and Roku Netflix signal all look crisper and more detailed on my Sony than they do on my beloved ST60.

I had them side-by-side for several days and did a lot of comparisons. The ST60 does have a better contrast ratio and better black levels (which i fully expected) but the Sony comes pretty close in these categories.

I have a p55vt60y that I recently bought for a reasonable amount. It had about 13000 hours. After a month I got some problems. It started lagging in everything. Power On can take several minutes before I can do anything. Apps or tuners doesn´t work, picture and sound breaks up. HDMI inputs are working without problems, except that it takes about 5 minutes before you get them running.

I opened up the TV and started checking for measuring points. Noted that the cooling plate on the main board gets really hot fast. Found most measuring points and measured the voltages. Found that the STB 5V was only 4.47 volts in both standby and power on mode. I´m not sure if this would matter for the function of the main board.

Tried to restore the TV. I got "Shipping Failed" but everything was showing "OK". After the restore the TV was actually working for an hour before it started lagging again. See picture.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Regards

Jocke

Unhappy TC-P55VT60 Frozen on SmartVierra Screen!

Last night in the middle of watching TV, the TC-P55VT60 suddenly turned off and immediately turned back on but locked on SmartVierra screen. I turned off all power to the system. This morning its still locked. Is there anything I can do to reset the TV?

Thank you,
Scott

Has anyone else have this problem?

Hi again.
I’m disappointed that I haven’t seen any replies/comments on my post.
It happened again last night and my wife chucked my harmony remote to me and said get it fixed
So I’m not sure What is causing this nor how to fix it. I’m hoping it’s not a power supply issue.
To clarify - when the unit shuts itself off I am able to quickly turn it back on and it’s good for several hours or more. It’s like the auto shut off (which I have set to not engage) is stuck “on”.

Anyone care to speculate what’s happening here.

Is the red light blinking? If so, count the blinks then Google for the cause.

You could unplug the set, let it sit for a period of then plug back in. Sometimes that will reset a fault. I've had it work from me the past.

Other things hooked to the tv can turn it off if you have the HDMI control on. Maybe try turning off any HDMI CEC items in the tv or other components.
