In terms of PQ and issues how would you evaluate both?
Ok remember the UK F8000 doesn't have precision black or smart LED like the US set does but I'll do my best based on what I've seen.
The extra size is great for starters, I'm a big lover of the bright LED look so had my reservations about switching but straight away noticed that he plasma has all the vibrancy of the LED. It matches and actually surpasses the LED in terms of overall PQ on blu ray and HD as it has better blacks and shadow detail in the blacks. SD is also much much better, it was terrible on the LED but I don't watch much SD anyway There are also no off angle issues at all like the LED had, no washout of picture when you so much as tilt your head a degree either way.
Motion is better on the plasma, no blurring or jumping of a golf ball in flight like there was a little of on the LED but fast moving action scenes are actually fine on both sets
3D is better, near perfect in terms of crosstalk.
On the downside there's a slight bit of popping (nothing too serious) slight buzz and heat but it's tolerable and this feint bar issue which is bugging me a little but I have to remind myself how bad the uniformity on the LED was then it becomes a non issue, very slight IR noticed too which clears quickly.
The LED wins in the aesthetic department and energy consumption but that's about it, having said that the LED has a stunning PQ and I loved it in a lot of ways so I don't want to sound like I'm slating it, it's more a case of this set being so good than the LED being bad
Regarding this plasma it's like Samsung have taken the best of both technologies and created a hybrid, it's truly awesome. I was constantly fiddling with LED settings but I'm practically using out of the box settings now and don't feel like I need to change anything. I will of course that's inevitible but it looks great the way it is for now.
