Is it safe to rest TV Stand on top of something?

Hey guys, I was wondering something.

My TV Stand measures 23" tall. I would like to raise the height of my TV about 3".

My Plasma TV currently rests on my TV stand.

Basically, my TV would rest on my TV stand which would rest on something else.

My question is, would this set-up be safe?

If so, what do you recommend?

Thanks.

depends what it's on.

two hockey pucks stacked on top of each other at each corner... probably not safe

a 3" piece of solid wood...can't see it being a problem

you just have to consider what you are doing as 're-engineering' the stand. the safest thing, if possible, would be to add a thick, sturdy base to the stand. that would probably make it stronger actually. depending on how your stand is made, it's hard to give a good suggestion on how to do this.

i guess technically my stand is sitting on something i built to raise it up about 5". you just wouldn't have to go the full length

Why raise the entire thing, when you just want to raise the TV? Seems to me all you need are a couple reams of paper... great spacers in the 2.5-3.5" range per.
