Kuro Kapture Program

This program allows you to obtain a comprehensive report of your Kuro, which includes usage hours, voltage settings, pulse meter stats, error codes and more! Think of it as a CarFax for your Kuro.

Been getting a lot of requests for this program and decided to open it up for the public. Enjoy!

Keep in mind, you will need the below items in order to use the program:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007T27H8..._RbJqCbEM03W66

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00066HP2E..._3dJqCbWMNCC58

Download link:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By...Xl0c05qX2tmdVE

Instructions:

1. Connect USB to serial adapter to your PC and install its drivers.
2. Connect serial cable to adapter and Kuro service port.
3. Unzip program.
3. Launch program.
4. Enter COM port that your PC assigned to the USB to serial adapter. You can get it from Device Manager > Ports.
5. Select Kuro model.
5. Once program connects to your Kuro, it will establish a connection and query it.
6. Program will output the file name of the report file.
7. Open report with notepad.

The Amazon links don't work anymore.

Can you repost?

I think you posted links to a USB to serial adapter, but am not sure. Just guessing.

That seems to be a good guess.

Can you do a test? Use your TV for 1 hour, then check the reading again?

Also, since it seems like you installed the program, can you post what cables we need to buy, to make this work? Since the links don't work in the OP anymore.

I saw mwntioned that it would show error codes and whatnot. My 5020FD seems to have lost all but 1 HDMI output. Is that something that would show up in the report? Im just curious if something happened that deactivated those outputs that I could resolve myself before taking into a repair shop. Are there any things of note that we should look for in the report?

There were 2 programs, a Kuro Kapture Automatic, and Kuro Kapture Manual.

I ran the Automatic one.

It didn't produce very much information. And the Hour Meter was blank.

What's wrong? Did I have to turn on my TV? Was there something I was supposed to look at on the TV?

I tried it again with the TV on. Still very little in the file.

I attached the file.

For some reason, I do not know why, but I did one tv thats next to my PC and had no issues. I did the other TV with a laptop and had the same results as you. So, I then actually installed the drivers on the laptop that came on a disc with the serial to RGB (whatever it is) cable and that solved the problem. You are running the right app also. I cant recall if I had to turn the tv on, but i did anyways and it worked. I think it doesnt matter though if its in standby or on.

My cables didn't come with a driver.

Did you mean you had drivers for the Serial to USB cable? Or the 6 foot female to female serial cable?

I'm running it on a desktop.

Can you try to find the same drivers online, and post a link?

When I plugged in the Serial to USB cable, it didn't say it needed any drivers. And based on how it does communicate and establish the connection, it seems to do something. For example, it produces the Plant where it was manufactured.

But that's about the only thing it produces.

Yeh, the serial to USB cable came with drivers. I dont know if it was a coincidence, or if installing the drivers was the difference. I was using the app from a thumbdrive the first few times I tried and then actually moved the app to the laptop and installed the drivers and it worked right of the bat. I cant find the disc with the drivers, I think my buddy accidentally took it home in his laptop. Im awaiting a reply from him so I can see what brand the drivers were.

Not sure if you're using the USB to serial adapter that's recommended in the first post, but here's a link to the drivers for it:

https://www.trendnet.com/support/sup...prod=265_TU-S9

The program produces a file regardless of whether or not it successfully established a connection with the Kuro - there was really no way for me to verify it when developing the program. In instances where the program is unable to establish a connection, the file will contain the settings / status names but no information.

Yes, I have the same cable.

I'll download the driver file and try it this weekend.

I still don't see much info in the output file, and I don't see any "hour meter" information.

What else can be the problem?

Since it says "50 inch 1st PLANT" in the file, does that mean it's made a successful connection?

I found the CD that came with the cables.

I uninstalled the driver that I had downloaded, and tried it with the driver from the CD instead.

Didn't make a difference.

Yeah not sure man.

Either you're entering the wrong COM port, there's an issue with your computer's serial port, the adapter, the cable or the service port on your Kuro doesn't work. The latter is a long shot but it happened to me once.
