Buying used, PNF8500 vs. ZT60

If I were buying new with a warranty I'd pick the 8500 because I believe it upscales the compressed content that I get from Dish better. PQ is important to me, which is why I'm targeting what I think most agree are among the best plasmas ever made, but the brightness/black level arguments that have been hashed out many times over are less of a factor in my view when buying a TV that rolled off an assembly line more than six years ago. Both are excellent TVs and I believe both would be an upgrade from a motion handling standpoint over the LG C8 that I'm returning. I owned a F8500 and loved it but was having problems with a cluster of stuck pixels (Samsung didn't have a replacement panel, so they bought it back).

I'm leaning towards the ZT60 based on my perception that the Panasonic brand has a better reputation for reliability and durability. That the ZT60 is about 10 pounds heavier (60-inchers, w/out stand) gives me the impression that the build quality is better. Given the risk of buying used, all things being equal, is my perception that the VT60 is a safer bet from a reliability standpoint shared by most on this forum?

I would always choose the ZT60 over the 8500 for build and picture quality.

Dolby you are correct. The 8500 has a common failure. The repair is known and easy to fix however failures of the VT60 and ZT60 are very rare on this forum meaning they have been very reliable.
