OK, now you are sounding like Panasonic support

If you download the EEPROM file and unzip it, it is actually the Tuner update, not the EEPROM update
I have tried to explain this to Panasonic support but they just don't understand that it is the wrong file.

At some point the web site manager screwed up the file in the link.

They got the EEPROM file right for the PX60 but not the PX600

Ok, I have downloaded both files, and they have both the exact same size.. In fact all 3 files are the same exact size..

So now I understand your problem..

I also searched the web, with no success.. Just keep on stalking panasonic service and tell them they should mail it to you, because all 3 files on this site are the same file..

I have been e-mailing Panasonic support and even though I have very clearly explained to them that they have the wrong file listed on their FTP site, they just keep responding with vague generic replies

Here is the latest response from Panasonic:

"The only update files available for your television are the ones listed on our support site. I can send you the file, but it would be the same file found on our website."

From what i remember back then, that firmware update was simply to fix a Tuner issue on the 2006 PX60 series.

Right before that they released a firmware update for my 2005 PX50U that fixed the same Tuner issue.

There was discussion about this in offical threads for both models.

Odd issue

Hi Guys,

My TH-50PX60U is still going strong, except the front plastic that is in front of the plasma part of the screen has started a diagonal clouding (its not on the screen itself, but the part protecting the screen) Now the top half of the screen is 5% darker than the bottom half, with a very distinct wobbly line separating them. Most noticeable on white scenes. Looks like it is cloudy and slightly rippled when I look up close. Anyone have any ideas what that could be and/or any fixes? I know its super old, but other than this one issue, it works and looks great.

Sounds like the screen filter is losing contact.. What happens if you clean the filter with a soft cloth and some water?

Nothing... If I were to guess, I would say whatever is happening is happening on the inside surface.

I have seen picturs in a german thread of a panasonic Plasma that was dirty on the inside of the filter because of smoking.. So there was some dust..

In your case it still seems like a filter is going off somewhere and a gap is causing the different contrast.. Maybe there is a protection filter direct on the glass panel.. And that is behind the screen filter..

But I am purely speculating..

I just found the thread on the german site..

Same PX60 Plasma.. non smoking household.. (my mistake)

Look at the picture.. There is dust on parts of the Plasma glass panel.. and also on the inside of the external filter.. He took everything apart and cleaned it..
