Does this mean Planet Earth still has problems with April firmware?

AFAIK only Krobar has tried it, so it needs a second user to confirm and it's also worth remembering he tested it with the UK HD-DVD box set.

The BD box set hasn't been tested and nor has the American BD or UK HD-DVD box set (4 discs instead of the UK box set of 5 discs). Personally I'd pick up the BD box set, which is likely to work:

The US HD DVD works fine and is available for a significant discount depending on the weekend at Fry's.

An Australian DTV forum member commented that UK 5 disc version would not play.

They are running new firmware.

I have just ordered one (BH200), but would be most unhappy if I couldn't play one of the families favorite HD DVD;s (have 100 discs and they all play on Toshiba EP10).

Can also confirm that Planet Earth (UK/BBC/2Entertain 5 discs edition) will not play using 702/April FW. US-player (DVDRegionhack applied, PALhack applied)
It is a bummer.... The first box I bought.

It starts to play, but no menus are shown, nor am I able to force it to start in any way.
Hope LG can fix this in a FW-update soon.

Update:
Sorry not making it clear that it is indeed the HD-DVD version I'm talking about.

I'm presuming you mean the HD-DVD Meenator?

Personally I'd pick up the UK BD:

* It's likely to work.
* Has all 5 discs.

Or USA HD-DVD/BD if you prefer. Forget about the UK HD-DVD, unless you already own it. I'll update the list tonight.

I seem to be having a run of bad luck lately...which is discouraging, because I'd had so few problems early on.

Got The Other Boleyn Girl (BD) from Netflix, and around chapter 11 (roughly 1:15:00) I began having audio dropouts (for the very first time!! ) and several lockups. After a few eject/restart attempts, I ended up having to skip ahead about 20 minutes to get the rest of the film to play.

The disc looked perfect. Grrrrr!

Cheers
Anna

ps -- still waiting for The Brave One (HD) to arrive in the mail....

I can confirm that the Swiss (or German) 300 HD DVD does work now with the June firmware.

Bridge to Terabithia, French HD-DVD is not fixed.

The Clerks II HD DVD menu do not work either with this one.

Les Gendarmes de Saint-Tropez, French HD-DVD: no fix, still the same (no menus).

Thanks guys. I've updated the list.

Can everyone please re-test their problem discs with the 20th of June firmware.

I presume this has never worked for you? I'm checking if it's a new problem "for you" or an unfixed problem one.

True, never worked for me. I also got the HD-XE1 to play back HD DVDs, I can wait until LG fixes those playback issues.

Cheers. I've added it to the June list, under "one user reported" until others test it with the June firmware.

1st issue I've run into, didn't see it listed, but may have missed it.

We Are Marshall HD DVD
Cannot select Audio output- The options are there, but on language, push left it shuts the tab down.
Any ideas?
I had 402F, so DL'D 620 and installed that and the 702 driver....
Didn't help, the Language Menu defaults to the subtitles menu, and I have Francais and off that I can select, I cannot select the mode(THD etc...)..it defaults to DD+, I cannot select anything else.

Any Ideas?
American version.
This is my first issue..not happy either.

EDIT: It's a bug- I can select THD AFTER the beginning- just can't at the start!!

THD is going now.

Weird, and first time I've seen this, it didn't allow me till AFTER the beginning ads with the star.

Why waste $ on more cheap stuff, it's like challenging a dragon with a pocket knife.

The remote has an AUDIO button to change the audio track during playback. Can you select TrueHD, using it?

I THINK I tried that, not sure.
It was in pass-through mode, and was trying to access through the movie menu.
It was weird that I couldn't select it until AFTER the very beginning(ads with the star), even though I could access the language menu.

Unfortunately, my extras on SUPERMAN RETURNS are still glitchy-- the movie plays fine, but I can't access the last two chapters of the documentary (or activate the "play all" function). I still can't consistently activate the features on V FOR VENDETTA or the still galleries on the UK PRESTIGE HD-DVD import. The only thing this update seemed to do was to fix the "judder" on the documentaries on the second discs of the FACE/OFF and ZODIAC sets.

And I'm still deeply annoyed that LG hasn't fixed the 4x3 flag on HD-DVD material that stretches practically all of the special feature content on these discs. They're formatted properly on Blu-Ray.

+1 on the Clerks II HD DVD menus not working with either disc 1 or disc 2. Terminator 2 Ultimate German edition, I can't get it working with the Skynet extra (Though that might be a case where Kinowelt has turned the servers off already), also still my Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Extras disc still spits out with a disc error warning as does the Copacabana Beach, Brazil SD DVD of the Rolling Stones Biggest Bang set.

Maybe I was just too impatient waiting for it to connect to their servers. I'll try again later and report. I'm also tempted to import Clerks II from somewhere hoping that maybe it's just the US copies giving the unit fits.

Has Clerks 2 been released elsewhere?

Given the complexities of the German HD-DVD I'm not surprised it doesn't work too well. I doubt it was your impatience that caused it not to work.

Are members telling LG these discs don't work?

I have one minor problem disc:

Motorcycle Diaries, UK HD-DVD: It works fine but if you fast forward to the fastest setting and try to press it again (which should put it back down to the slowest setting), it stops the disc and you have to turn the BH200 off/on again to fix it.

You cannot even eject the disc. It's no big deal as I just remember not to choose the fastest setting and it's fine.
