Thanks. I've removed it from the list, as it seems it's works for more people than not.

Some say it's fine, others don't. It's one of those odd ones. The links in the first post should still work.

It seems only Stardust's doesn't work. I'd guess if you buy it now, it will be fine.

Krobar and whoever wrote the above about Shooter could re-post something please. I'll add it to the first post again.

My US Shooter HD DVD works with the January firmware but does not work with the June firmware. I remember another person that also mentioned it does not work with the June firmware.

Here's two problem discs:

1- Crank: German HD DVD. Player gets stuck in the menu when you go in to select English audio & no subtitles. It lets you make the selection, but you can't get out of the menu. When you just hit "Play" at the main menu, it plays the movie but the Audio button on the remote won't let you change from the default German audio. The PAL DVD extras disc gets stuck in the menu as well.

2: Rambo (2008 release): It tried to load the disc and then just ejects it. I applied the region free DVD hack to the player, so I think the BD+ Fox uses detects the player has been altered and refuses to play the disc. I'll try Live Free or Dies from Fox tonight to see if affects other Fox titles.

EDIT: Stupid me. I tried Live Free or Die Hard & it played fine, so I tried Rambo again - and then I noticed I'd been trying to play the DVD digital copy.
Stupid me, but stupid packaging - the DVD digital copy is in the bottom slot of the case while the BD version is hidden behind inserts in the upper case. The Rambo BD plays fine.

I did the same thing a few months ago after a few beers. Was ranting and raving that this new technology was just unstable and then put the bluray disc in.

Are you saying there's no way to choose English on the German Crank HD-DVD?

Correct. If you try to chose it in the disc menu you get stuck in the language menu with no way to get the movie to play. If you press Play when the main disc menu appears the movie will play with the default German language and there is no way to change it to English. On other HD DVDs and BDs, when you press the Audio button on the remote you can use the toggle directional buttons to cycle through the different audio options; you cannot do this with Crank.

Thanks CochiseGuy. You're running the June firmware and 0702 driver right? I've added it under the June list but want to confirm that's the firmware you have.

I can also confirm the Skynet Interactive HDi extras on the Terminator 2 German UE HD-DVD don't work. You click Yes to continue and it just sits there saying "Downloading". It never gets anywhere period. Oh well, I cannot say I'm too bothered.

I bought it for the movie and extras "on the disc".

Okay... Debbie Does Dallas Again HD DVD still has problems. However, I can select on the menu and get the movie to play and skip chapters to fast forward. The pop up menu stays on the screen during the movie.

"Picture This" HD DVD still has problems. It plays the movie, but don't attempt to fast forward, skip, etc. or the movie will stop. The only way to get the disc out is to power off the system and eject.

One more confirmation that playback of the US Shooter HD DVD is screwed. It loads up and goes to the menu. You can move the cursor all you want--no go. Play pretends to play the movie, but does nothing. I attempted to eject it. I got the LG blue screen garbled, flashing all over my screen over and over again--very strange.

Yeah, I guess my memory is faulty. I admit it.

La Môme HD DVD still has funky menus. You still can't select the chapter, etc. At least I can change it from DTS-HD HR to Dolby TrueHD!

"Art Mann: Crazyness in Austin" (HDNet out of print) has a very minor issue. At the beginning of the feature, the pop-up menu works fine. However, in later chapters, the pop-up menu will flash and disappear. The chapter skip buttons work, so I don't care.

The German La Haine HD DVD plays fine. (Good news!)

This is with the June firmware/702 driver.

The "Robbie Williams: Live at the Albert" HD DVD has flakey menus, too. It's a showstopper. It stays in the opening menu loop.

I'd like to report that with the 6/20 firmware, my copy of Shooter (USA HD-DVD) works completely fine. I can forward through chapters, watch the extras and play the movie normally.

Is there any way to turn the pop-up menu off? I guess the answer is not to press it.

AFAIK all the Studio Canal HD-DVDs work fine, except with the March firmware.

Can you press Enter or something like that to get it to play and then advance forward using the Chapter button?

No, I tried. The same for DDDA. The menu is there no matter what. I forgot to mention that the special features are inaccessible.

I will try the January firmware in the near future with my problem discs. I have a bunch of Digital Playground titles coming in next week. I will try those as well. I see me having a 2 hour phone call with LG support next week.

So with DDDA the pop-up menu appears even if you don't press it? That's weird. Was it that way with the April firmware too?

I've added Robbie Williams.

LMAO

Why waste $ on more cheap stuff, it's like challenging a dragon with a pocket knife.

I just tested my copy of the US Shooter HD DVD and it does not work with the June Firmware on my player. Same issues as reported before.

Oddly enough Clerks II does work now. I get menus and can start the movie.

I don't think it's firmware connected but luck related . It works fine for some with any firmware.

There must be. Question is how do we know for sure?!! I'm tempted to purchase another copy used in hopes it would work but I'm just not sure about it.

You could always find out where someone bought a working copy (for them) and if it doesn't work eBay it.

Was watching Harold and Kumar last night on my BH200 (June Firmware, latest driver) paired with my Onkyo 875 (Updated DSP's and 1.05 firmware?) and had a lot of random pops and sound glitches.
