I'll crack up my Kill Bills and see if they work.

I did however test Universal's latest BDs (Leatherheads and Sarah Marshall) and both worked fine. Now for Iron Man!

I've not read that anyone else has experienced this problem with this disc.

I've got the April FW and driver 702.

This disc did nearly the same thing on my newly-acquired BH200 with April firmware and original driver - it spun for less than a minute and then ejected with a "disc error" message. The disc was from Netflix, and it was not pristine. It had some barely perceptible scratches. However, it started right up in my Sammy 1400, but did briefly freeze several times during playback.

@ Jencas: What title are you talking about? I cannot find that source quote.

I've added Kill Bill btw.

hitting menu a few times while the disc icon is spinning and there's a black screen does jump to the menu for me on KB V1 & V2. after that both discs playback in 1080p24 just fine with no missing frames or judder on my setup.

I'm not jencas, but using the "quote link" in jencas's post, I found it. The Brave One on Blu Ray is the title under question (it was in the post title, and doesn't get quoted).

The Brave One (Blu Ray), as Shinksma noted. I would like to add that I later installed the June firmware, but retained the 701 driver, and tried the disc again. This gave exactly the same result as with the April firmware - the disc spun for ~1 minute, then was ejected with a "disc error" message.

This is a very inauspicious start - I've only tried 3 movies so far, and one of the three won't play at all!

For the sake of saying...

Sarah Marshall (Uni), Iron Man (Paramount) and Pushing Daisies (WB) play just fine in both my LG's.

Iron Man dvd or Blu Ray? If the latter, may I ask how, since the official release date isn't until Sept. 30.

E-tailors often get stock in early. I imagine that's why.

DVD Pacific, Tower.com, Amazon have all been known to ship early. At least to The UK anyway. I've no idea about Iron Man sorry.

I'm a reviewer - I get them early. I always get a small lump in my throat wondering if a film won't work so I like to report here so others will know what works and what does not early...just in case.

Are your review copies ones that get sent to distribution or pre-release copies? Sometimes review copies aren't identical to the final product. Thanks.

Blu-ray review copies are 100% identical to whats being released. Only Fox/MGM DVDs are crappy watermarked screeners. My BD copies come with all inserts, rebates, sticker etc.

The only time Blu-ray review copies have been a issue is the original Sony Robocop BD when was canceled a week before release and Jack Ryan HD DVD collection which was canceled/pulled as well.

That's why we BD-UP5000 owners need to pitch in and get you one.

Thanks. I remember Dreamworks pulling that nasty trick too. I don't know about now.

Watermarked discs are useless, as they don't represent the final product.

Godfather 1,2,3 also works just fine in my LG 200's.

Blu-ray does not do watermarked releases simply because of the cost involved. With DVD, it makes a bit more sense (because DVDRs are cheap), even though they will just have to spend another $5-6 to send me the final product 3 days after I get the watermarked screener

Couldn't tell if it was just a Java loading screen or some kind of glitch.

Here is my setup with all components connected via HDMI.

BH200 (1080p24) --> Onkyo TX-SR705 --> Panasonic TH-PZ800U

Hopefully this helps someone.

Kill Bill 2 did the something to me the other night. The main menu didn't show until I hit the Menu button. Fine. Next day I insert The Sum of All Fears and guess what, same thing. After the Java loading screen nothing happened. I had to hit the Stop button and start all over again. I was like WFT? Then I remember all this starting happening after playing Transformers. So right after the movie finished I went in the setup menu and initialized the BD flash space. I haven't had any problems since

Of course I cannot tell for sure if the problem was actually due to something Transformer may have downloaded to my BH200 or perhaps the flash was full but whatever it was seems to be gone. So if all of the suddenly you start having weird problem with every disc you pop in try initializing the BD flash space.

Same situation for me too. Had to try a few times before I could get it to work. Played back in 1080p24 without any problem after that.

Same issue with KB1 that everyone else had. Had to hit Menu several times and wait 20 seconds or so.

Just wanted to report Shooter USA HD-DVD exhibited same issues as others with April fw, updated to June fw and it now works perfectly. I have a Feb '08 build player.

My BDP-05FD, still going strong and still my favorite player!

Opposite of mine. Shooter won't work on either of my March built LGs running Junes firmware.

Thanks guys. Given that the March, April and June firmware is 99% identical I'd say it's likely that Shooter is dodgy on all these firmware and if you get it to work on any of them it's luck. The simple answer is, Shooter HD-DD doesn't like any of this firmware.

I wonder what LG changed from the January to March firmware. It has caused a fair few discs to fail, Shooter being one of them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those who're having problems with Kill Bill I'd recommend clearing your BD Flash memory, as described here:
