@Fears4Ears - I don't have the DVD-A but like Mike said, I doubt you're missing much if anything. According to the folks at QQ who have reviewed them both, the mixes are a little different and there seems to be a slight preference for the DVD-A. I'm doubtful my ears can hear a difference between 20/48 and 24/96, though I don't have a DVD-A compatible player so could only listen at 24/48 anyway. I thought the DTS was a good deal at $16.

I have staunchly refused to ever buy another Dylan album. I have had this one in my cart several times already. I know it has been very well received but still.

Ok, OK. Maybe I'll put it back in.

I have music by Sinatra and Dylan, like 'em both. I also have this CD... First listen I got half way through it and put it aside for another time. If you can listen to it first or if Amazon has samples available, you may or may not decide to put it in your cart again.

Here's link to Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Shadows-Night-...keywords=dylan

My opinion is "lukewarm", but obviously other folks here like it and you may also .

Thanks for the comments on the Gaucho releases, but isn't the 5.1 mixed in 5.1, to where the instruments are broken out in surround? That's what I'd be interested in hearing.

Bob Dylan - Self Portrait

My wife came home with this one on vinyl. She paid $20 used. I explained to her that it was Dylan's attempt to stop people from hounding him for being such a genius. He literally compiled his worst stuff, did a painting for the cover in 5 minutes, and released it.

OK, these two have nothing in common except the cover, but I think the painting has a lot more to do with the Rite of Spring than any Waltz I've ever seen. It's La Danse by Henri Matisse.

I have at least a half-dozen versions of Ravel's Bolero, but my favorite is Gato Barbieri's from Tropico:
