Californians in California can be insufferable let alone pushing their views in other States!

Great living in Wine Country though; great A/V stores, great riding and Sears Point is just a short blast away, (did Bondurant, CLASS and CSS there several decades back on the "bad" old track before safety upgrades).

Thanks. I have those as well but from the angle of the picture they looked larger to me. I love these speakers!

I did an upgrade list from my Polk RTiA 7.2 to the Paradigm 7.2 with those speakers as LCR and the sub 1 or sub 2 (which one is the behemoth?)

The difference in cost was too great to bear with other priorities abound.

I would love to how they sound though.

Any intent to add acoustic panels along with bass traps? Those will make your speakers sound almost twice as good.

My spousal strategy is to make these changes slowly (haha). I already let her pick the fabric for the bass traps. She also went along with the heavy velvet drapes to cover the large rear window. I need to ease into absorption panels or I might scare her away. This is a "family" room first and a place for me to listen to music second.

Unfortunately, the first near reflection point on the left straddles a fireplace and side window. I might get away with one or two move-able panels there. Not too much of a problem on the right as the room is half open into the kitchen. She did wince a bit when I first mentioned the possibility of hanging some panels from the ceiling. I need to hold off on that one

Thanks!

The cabinet is just red oak plywood I stained and the drawers & doors are solid cherry I shellacked. The speaker stands are quarter sawn white oak that are dyed, shellacked and a top coat.

Haha yeah it is. I wanted a wall mount, but don't want to screw it into the wall. So I got a little tv stand that will sit on the dresser between the speakers.

Also ordering a sub as soon I decide on which one. I heard kef subs aren't great, so maybe svs.

Dug out my old vinyl and 45+ year old Dynaco A-25 speakers. Bought a Marantz PM 6005 and Denon 300 turntable. Forgot how great old vinyl sounds. Couldn't believe the speakers still worked too.

I thought I'd post some pictures of a few potentially useful modifications I've made to my JBL 570 towers and 550p subwoofers.

SVS makes these dandy upgraded subwoofer isolation feet (SoundPath) that work to replace most any stock speaker feet. The 570 towers are a little too short in placing the compression driver at seated ear level. I modified these feet to give me another 2+ inches of lift. The down-side is that the JBL 570s are pretty tippy due to the weight of the speaker drivers loading the front baffle, and the fact that the front feet are recessed too far back. I've also included a photo of my California earthquake (or small child) remedy--this is a hook screwed directly into the subfloor with a bungee attachment to the speaker feet. The SVS feet are definitely not the best solution for stability on carpeted floors (the spikes probably are), but for those of you with hardwood floors this will be a BIG improvement over the stock feet.

Without starting too much of a war over the merits (or lack thereof) of decoupling the speakers from the room, I can say that I’ve eliminated some pretty annoying resonances with these feet (fact). I have room treatments on the way that I hope will address a few other annoyances. Not fact, purely subjective: It may be the placebo effect but I think I’m enjoying tighter bass as a result of the isolation feet compared to the spikes. Wife and kids make a double-blind test impossible, so you can take that with a grain or two of salt :-)

Again, for some of you with hardwood floors, this may be an interesting option.

What is the driver and horn you're using?
Did you build the crossover?

Any thoughts on adding some room treatments?

Attractive and clean looking speaker. The red and black offset each other nicely.
