This is a great source specific to VPI

Combination of Vintage and Modern.

Finally found some time to add my system to the thread.
Taken me a some months but consider it worth it not only for the sound quality but also for the aesthetics (Just to keep the wife happy ).
System as follows:-
Turntable - JVC QL-Y55F
Cd player - Pioneer reference PD 91
Power-Amp - Pioneer reference M-73
Pre -Amp - Pioneer reference C-73
Speakers - Dynaudio Confidence C1s.
Plus other bits.

That turntable reminds me of my much loved Sony PSX75 I had back in the 80's until I traded it with my dad as he wanted a TT that tracked some of his warped records better.

That thing was built like a tank and silky smooth to operate.

By comparison the Revox B795 he sent me was crude but charming in its own way.

Daughter has the Revox now, the Sony went who knows where after my dad died.

I must say those Dynaudio's are quite curious looking...cursory searching yielded nothing but Kudos despite their very high price.

Nice eclectic setup.

Cambridge Audio azur 540r and DVD 89, Martin Logan motion 10 speakers, Audio-technica AT-LP60 turntable, Jriver to play FLAC and DSD files through a muse audio DAC. I have the paradigm 90p v3 speakers off my HT setup just for a test run, they have built in amps so there LOUD! P.S. I did a wall mount to the turntable and wow what a difference.

Im happy with the LP60 for now, for its price its a great table at 168$ CND. The build quality is nowhere near your LP120 you have. When I compare it to my old stanton str8 the sound quality is much better on the LP60. Both tables where run on there internal phono amp. In the next few weeks I'm going to pick up a Cambridge audio 551p phono stage. I will put them head to head running on it and with my vintage Hitachi HT-41S Direct Drive Turntable. I bought the LP60 just to have an inexpensive full auto turntable with a built in stage, to fool around with on my different receivers. I have my sights on a Pro-Ject RPM 1 carbon to match up with the 551p stage.

Thanks for the feedback, ve; indeed, I didn't want to go any "lower" in quality or level than the 120, but I have enjoyed the benefits of fully-auto tables like the 60 in the past...that's a feature I wish the 120 had, at least semi-auto where the arm would return at the end of a side/single...

Yes sir the semi-auto and full auto is nice to have. The 60 will be kind of an every day table. Its nice if I walk away and forget, it will shut off at the end of the album. Then for a real vinyl listening session, I will bring out the Pro-Ject.

Intellivolume my question of the day is, did you ever try your LP120 with an external phono stage vs the internal one? If so did you see a big difference.

No, I haven't tried it with the internal phono stage -- I am running the 120 into an Onkyo 8555 stereo receiver with its own dedicated stage.

That's sweet -- is that a new Elite stereo receiver?

BTW, what are your sources? Don't think I saw them listed...

Very nice!

I run a stereo receiver myself in my two-channel setup; how do you like the Elite?

And what about your sources...what do you have connected to that bad boy?

EDIT: Never mind; saw your reply afterwards...

You gotta mate that gorgeous receiver with a playback device, like a good CD player!

I agree 100%, streaming is convenient but that bad boy needs a true source to shine, I have ran my pioneer vsx-9130txh in 2-ch mode and it sounds great! I was feeding it with Jriver on my laptop and through my muse DAC. I tried 96khz, 192khz FLACS and DSD files through it.

Honestly it's been years since I've owned a CD. I had an SACD player at one time, but only had a few disks for it. I just get everything in FLAC or .wav now

To me -- and this is merely my opinion -- there is absolutely nothing that can compare to physical media, and it's the reason I will never give up my DVD, Blu-ray, CD and vinyl collections. There's something so traditional about pulling a disc or record off the shelf/out of the collection, looking at liner and booklet notes, placing the disc in the tray or record on the platter and actually listening...

Don't know; it was the way I was raised and will always feel that way...

As for SACD, I really wanted to get into the format, but didn't really come across any titles that I was interested in; at one point, most of the titles were classical, no? If I was able to find an SACD/CD changer I liked (Sony made one at one point; not sure if they still do), I would possibly consider replacing my Marantz CC-4001 with it.

p147 that's a very nice looking setup! I have always felt Pioneer makes very good stuff at a very good price. Just out of curiosity has the m-73 ever had a hard time driving the C1s. I have heard that Dynaudio speakers can be hard to drive and need a good amount of power? I have heard a set of C1s running off a Cary amp, some focus 160s and excites running of a Naim supernait.

Hi,
The C1s do have to be very carefully matched as they are sub 4 ohms and the Pioneer M-73 is more than adequate for that.
I would say that these speakers are quite something, I would normally have my doubts about stand mounts due there size but these are quite bright and punchy.

I would have loved to have had a DV-09, but I believe they are only available in America due to 110v and different video specs.
