Best setup with niles SI-245 and Sansui QR-4500

Hi all,

I just picked up a niles SI-245 and wanted to hook it up to my existing system.

Right now, I run all of my vinyl with a sansui QR-4500 and a little bear P5-1 tube-preamp. The sansui has preamp outs and a "main in" so you can route signal out and back from a preamp. In addition to speaker terminals, the SI-245 has RCA in and "cascade out" (RCA), which made me think I could use it as a preamp.

So there are basically 3 options:

1) Turntable -> Phono in:Sansuireamp out -> RCA in:SI-245:cascade out -> main in:Sansui -> speakers

2) Turntable -> rca in-SI-245-cascade out -> Phono in:Sansui -> Speakers

3) Turntable -> Phono in:Sansui:tape rec out-> RCA in:SI-245 -> Speakers

4) Turntable -> Phono in:Sansui:tape mon out-> RCA in:SI-245 -> Speakers

5) Turntable -> Phono in:Sansuireamp out -> RCA in:SI-245:cascade out -> LittleBear Tube -> main in:Sansui -> speakers

6)Turntable -> Phono in:Sansuireamp out -> Little Bear Tube -> RCA in:SI-245:cascade out -> main in:Sansui -> speakers

When I tried option 1 (replaced the little bear with the SI-245), there was no boost in power.

Can anyone help me out?

I've included pictures of the backs of these things, just in case they're any help. Sorry the labels on the sansui aren't legible.

I think none of those. What are you trying to do? Are you trying to get away from the amplifier in the Sansui? Is the TT the only source you want? I think a modified 3:

3a) Turntable -> Phono in:Sansui:tape rec out-> Little Bear ->RCA in:SI-245 -> Speakers

The Niles isn't a preamp, those outputs are just for daisy-chaining additional amps/speakers to the same channel, possibly for additional rooms, as that is Niles specialty.
