Devialet Phantom

Has anyone here considered the Devialet Phantom speakers as a replacement for a full system or a starting (and ending) point for a new system?

I had an opportunity to hear them recently at a dealer (among other amazing setups costing much more) and I have to say I am impressed. If I could start over, these would be an easy choice for my listening room. When I get to the age of pairing down, decades from now, something like these will be mine for sure. They are the future trend of high end home audio I dare say.

They are definitely worth checking out. I'm surprised I'd never heard of them before happening upon them in the store.

It would be a good upgrade if you are used to a Bose Wave Radio

I'm not much into table radios since boom boxes have the ability to be taken to the beach etc.

The specs are quite entertaining with enough hype to keep the consumer occupied for awhile. However, it is a niche' I don't need filled and most likely never will. Max output of 105dB is a bit low for my needs but somebody else could use it at work, in a garage or whatever.

Lol. You would use 2 as a stereo pair....

It is a serious product with beyond serious performance..... Its legit. I had the same response before I heard them.

I'd noticed these a while back. Don't appeal to me particularly for either looks or performance (or price) but I can see how they might appeal to some.

I'd still need to see a full suite of measurements as they look like they may break Hoffman's Iron Law and I'm not impressed with the design of the coax.

I havent been able to find 3rd party measurements. I've been looking at these from an interest standpoint. They are fascinating to me.

Here is more info. Its called a white paper, but it is clearly a tech sales brochure.

They are completely DSP controlled, so they are able to bend the typical passive speaker laws of physics. That is how they can achieve nearly perfect flat response to the depths with almost no distortion.

Dirac did this approach as well with small speakers. It is explained in an ep of hometheatergeeks.
