I found an open box/store demo pair of Monitor Audio Silver 1 speakers for a great price last week, and I really enjoyed listening to them over the weekend.

Father in law gave me his 1969 Marantz Model 22 stereo receiver and Teac reel to reel tape deck. Taking both for a clean up and tune up this week. May connect my Node 2i to it to see how it sounds.

Switched out my NAS drives to SSD. Crucial MX500 are the ones I went with. Roon core now running on the SSD and feeling snappier.

I did that last month and noticed a huge difference in performance. I used a Crucial 2TB SSD and added Crucial 16GB RAM too.

^Yeah the improvement is pretty significant after the system has stabilized. Even yesterday when Roon was rebuilding the library/metadata and analyzing all my tracks again. the whole thing was snappier. Today everything is pretty much instant. Anyone running a Roon core, should really consider an SSD.

I ordered a Naim Uniti Nova integrated/streamer last week and need NAS to run Roon. I'm currently using my MacBook Pro and have been waiting for a SSD version to come out...maybe I'll buy a WD or Seagate and change out the HD with an SSD. What NAS do you have and how difficult was it to switch out?

I use Synology. I have the 916+ from a couple years back. The Synology drive trays have pre-installed holes for mounting a 2.5" SSD which is really convenient.

Today I added a Klipsch R-12SW to my system. I might swap it with the RSL Speedwoofer I have in my HT. I think the Speedwoofer is supposed to be better for music.

Great info...I think I'll get the Synology DiskStation DS419slim 4-Bay NAS. and use each bay for different items (photos, music, videos, important documents).

I received a pair of Monoprice Monolith stands for my Monitor Audio Silver 1s yesterday. I filled them with sand and they are heavy and non resonant. They appear to be exactly the same as the Pangea DS400 for half the price.

Sold my Selah Audio Vigore (SB Acoustics 8", SB Satori 5" Mid, ScanSpeak Beryllium Tweeter)

Looking to replace them with the new JBL Synthesis HDI-3800. I'm looking forward to the change. I've owned speakers with soft dome tweeters, aluminum tweeters, titanium tweeters, beryllium tweeters, ribbon tweeters & planar magnetic tweeters. This will be my first pair of speakers with a horn-loaded compression driver.

My system does double-duty as a home theater as well in my media room, so I'll likely add the HDI-4500 Center Channel and HDI-1600 Bookshelves for rears.

Main System: Vizio P70 4K TV. JBL Synthesis HDI-3800, HDI-4500, HDI-1600. KEF Q50a, Mirage BPS 400. Denon AVR-X3700H Receiver. XBOX One S. Zappiti Mini 4K HDR. GIK 242 Panels, Tri Traps, Monster Bass Trap, Control4 Desktop: Dynaudio BM6A mkII. Paradigm SUB10 w/ PBK. Cambridge DACMagic+ DAC. GIK 242 Panels, Monster Bass Trap Master Bedroom: Vizio M55 4K HDR/DV. BG Radia In-Wall/Ceiling Speakers (5.2.2). NAD T758v3 Receiver, Control4 Patio: Definitive Technology AW6500, NAD CI720, Control4

Those are just incredible good-sounding, and the watts per channel rating belies what they can really do! The way Naim has designed their circuits for current delivery means the bass reinforcement is profound.

BTW, what are those things on the lower shelf beneath the center speaker? (Also, try moving that speaker closer to the edge, to help eliminate first reflections off that surface.)

Thanks, it does sound fantastic and I’m doing more research on their products. The silver tubes are fellows DVD/CD holders. All Blu-ray’s since I’ve ripped my CDs to FLAC external HD. I’m also running the Nova in home theater mode using home theater bypass.

Came across this 1986 component system today. Peeps were about to trash it. Took it home cleaned it up and gave to my brother. TT needs a stylus. Other than that it works!
