Looks pretty good but god that screen on half the chassis looks plain awful. It looks like some Chinese OEM PC case.

Have you even seen it in person? I don't think ANYONE would agree with you. There's literally nothing about it that looks bad. It's an incredibly gorgeous looking design. However I can think of like 20 other manufacturers of high end electronics that actually do have really cheesy "Chinese PC case" looking enclosures.

I agree with him and I've seen it in person. Looks pretty much would stop me from buying it. Too many other better choices.

I don't know why I'm quoting this person, but it is his opinion however I disagree.

I thought I would provide a little context on the design of the STR gear.

If you look at the Anthem Statement gear from the past, there are a ton of silver buttons & a really small matrix display.
The number of buttons reflects the abundant features and flexibility of their gear.

10+ years on, the STR gear reflects new design paradigms & imo, nails it.
Simplicity, usability & a bit of a flair in the face plate that wasn't a functional necessesity but looks cool.
Looks are the last thing I consider when evaluating electronics.
Give me Plain Jane as long the SQ & usability are there but it is a tangible bonus when you spend serious bucks
on gear and it has asthetic appeal.

If the STR Pre is like all other Anthem gear I have, the build quality is killer.
My misshipped then back-ordered STR Pre has landed.
Picking up this Sat

Finally picked up my black STR Pre-Amp today.
Gorgeous simplicity.
Happy to say it looks nothing like a Chinese OEM PC case

Obviously what I'm looking forward to is hearing it my system

Yup.
I love the large, bright, sharp screen on the STR.
Of course, Anthem includes all of the display settings you need.
Huge step up from the last 2 gens of Anthem gear.

That's what Anthem is about. Meaningful improvements.
It may take a few years between releases but you know they're worth the investment, at least I think so.
Far less of a commodity designed product but a combination of design inputs and goals.
Absolutely nothing wrong or bad with commodity designs, it bankrolls the more exclusive products for many companies.

Did we ever get an answer on this? I see that someone posted that the STR pre-amp has HT bypass, but what about this integrated. Apologies if I missed the answer in this thread after perusing it. Oh, and I also looked on the Anthem site tonight for an answer and did not see any mention of HT bypass.

Using Platinum Audio Solo's. Amazing bottom end from these speakers with such small woofers. This is for my small office system.
Other equipment in rack are Oppo 93, Rega P3 with Hana EH cartridge, Sonos Amp to run music to lanai and garage, AC Infinity T8 exhaust fan Chang Lightspeed speaker cable, and Chang Lightspeed AC Powerline filter. Anthem should be here Monday or Tuesday. Been told by the dealer it was shipped out to them on Monday.

I just looked up the Stph review of your Solos. The bass response really is pretty amazing.

I hope you enjoy the Anthem integrated as much as I do my STR Preamp.

Have fun!

Platinum Audio was about 10 miles from where I live in Bedford NH. Phil Jones the designer was a bass player and he designed those speakers w/an incredible amount of bass for such a small speaker. They do need a lot of power for them to perform up to expectations. The Anthem should do the trick. I remember some years ago my local dealer was fooling around w/the Solo's and he hooked them up w/a pair of Parasound JC-1 mono's. Those speakers just soaked up the power and really rocked. Enjoy this speakers.

I’ve had them for quite a while. My brother was a rep for them briefly in the 90’s and had 2 pairs, one which I bought from him for probably $500 in the late 90’s. Kept them in my office ever since. They go lower than the B&W 804 Nautilus (floorstanding) that I have in my HT. Amazing considering their size.
They are great speakers and ones you don’t see for sale very often. Killed me to junk the boxes for speakers and stands when I moved to SWFL. No room. I saved every box for Tv’s, stereos, etc when I had the house with a basement in NJ.
Helped when I moved here. Don’t know what I would replace them with if I ever got rid of them. Probably would have to get a sub. Unfortunately, they would have to be sold locally.
Probably more than I need for such a small office of 10 x 11. Still can’t get used to that coming from a 15x 20 office I had in my house in NJ.

Just arrived yesterday. This thing is big.
Performed the ARC.
Sounded great.
Though, I hear very slight pop when powering off. Very low.

Looks great! But I don't think I would put another component right on top of it like that.

Ahh, okay that makes sense. My apologies. I mistook it for a cable box or some other component.

That’s the component fan that takes heat away from the unit and sends it out the back of the cabinet which is open.
