First turntable set up - I Need an advise

This is the stuff i'm thinking:

Klipsch R-28F Floorstanding speakers (these one i already have)
Onkyo 9050 amp (MM) (this is what i'm not really sure about) ($347)
Pro-Ject - Debut Carbon DC - Ortofon 2M Red cartridge ($399)
Pro-Ject phono box S preamp ($199)

Would be better to buy an amp with integrated phono stage?

Any better recommendations in this price range (of any component) would be really appreciated. Thanks.

External phono preamps are widely considered to be superior to any integrated options. That said if you're set on that Onkyo you can always get an external preamp at a later date and put that money towards a better table or cartridge now. I would recommend allowing yourself a future upgrade path... so put as much as you can into the table. It's easy to upgrade the cartridge and preamp in the future.

As an alternative to the Onkyo you might want to consider a Marantz PM6004 (or 6005). Not sure what turntable options you have in your area, but you might want to consider a Rega, they have new models out so the older ones are likely available at a lower price point. If you take your preamp budget you might be able to get a new Planar 2 (I'd shoot for a 3 if you can afford it).

Thumbs up

For $100 more I would add the Lounge Audio phono. Would be a nice step up from the Project or internal Onkyo phono's.
