As a Marantz PM15S2 owner, of course I'll give an endorsement for the PM11S3. The PM15S2 is the best integrated I have ever owned and its not going anywhere out if my system soon. I bought it after a 3 hour audition head to head against a McIntosh driving a pair 10k Sonus Faber Cremonas. And it sounded much better than the Mac. BTW...For the contrarians on this board who almost always chime in - the auditions were not DBT and were in the dealers showroom. And I really don't care as I trust my ears.

I can only assume the 11S3 would be ever better with its ability to double output its output into 4 ohms from 100 wpc to 200 wpc across the entire power band. At nearly 60 lbs. its also built at Marantz' reference factory in Japan and its build quality is off the charts.

Hope you get some comments from owners on the Yamaha (closer in spec to my PM15S2 than the PM11S3) and the Sudgen too. WRT to the Sugden, its really hard to compare it to the two Japanese amps as its much lower in output but Class A operation. Good luck and have fun in the process of searching for your new amp brother.

You aren't going to realize a great improvement changing from a mid line integrated to another mid line integrated. Your KEFs are nice bookshelf speakers but maybe it's time to move into a pair of nice towers?

This is completely true, and always my recommended approach...

Those bookshelf speakers are really good, but you most likely won't hear any difference from changing the amp, unless the current amp isn't squeezing the best performance possible out of them.

Cool

Thank you for your inputs. I agree that once I upgrade to one of this amp, then I may upgrade my KEF R300s as well to get the full out of the amp. But right now, I don't have budget for that 'll consider that in the future.

Getting a decent used Yamaha A-S2100 for around $1600
thinking its a good deal, and I believe its a good upgrade over my current Marantz PM-7004.

Thanks!

I would definitely choose the Marantz over the others.

On the other hand, the Musical Fidelity M5 integrated amp is even better IMO, and costs only $1995, which is a steal for its incredibly good sound quality and power.

That's less than half of MSRP, that would be tempting if it is in good shape.

I would also check out the Plinius Inspire and the Unison Research Unico 50. Very musical hybrid design. Both in the same price range as the Marantz.

Thank you everyone!

Filtered down to Marantz PM-14 S1 SE, and Yamaha A-S2100. The PM-11 S3 is out of budget.
Please pour in your suggestions/ comments. Which one will be better with my KEF R300s. I like warm musical details, listening to more vocal/ instrumental, Jazz, Blues, County, Classical.. etc. A bit of Rock also but NO Boom Boom NO Electronic/ NO trans. I have gone through many reviews online and youtube.. leaning towards Yamaha A-S2100 (no scope for audition anywhere near my place; so it will be a blind buy )

Current gear: Arcam irDAC, Marantz PM-7004, Chord Clearway speaker cables, KEF R300 .

Comments please..

I recently bought its litle brother, the A-S1100. That thing is a beast, i believe the major differences between the 1100 and the 2100 is a dedicated headphone output, a better phone stage and the 2100 is fully balanced and symetrical. I've never heard the M5Si and it was also on the top of my list based on its reputation. I'm in love with the Yammy, bass control is sublim, it really packs a punch, and level of detail is way better than my previous amp (BC acoustique EX362D) without being harsh. Plus if it is of any importance to you, the Yamaha is one hell of a sexy thing......

Focal Aria 936, 807V, SVS PB2000, OPPO 103D, MRX 500, Simaudio Moon Neo 280D, Yamaha AS-2100, Rega Planar 3, Moon 110lp.

By the way my musical taste is almost identical to yours except for classical.

Nice! Thank you for sharing your experience with Yamaha A-S1100; "Bass control, and "details without being harsh" are the exact points that I'm looking for. Your review gives confidence to go ahead with A-S2100 - I do use the headphone out some times. Only worry is that how these Yamaha pairs with my KEF R series speakers... Any one has experience with KEF? any idea?

Thanks!

A friend of mine had the Sudgen for a few years, he loved it. He traded up to Naim for more power output and flexibility (HT bypass). However a sweet musical sounding unit.

Dynaudio Contour 20, Focus 210C, DM 2/6, Hsu VTF3 MK5 HP, Oppo BDP-103, Naim Uniti Star, Marantz SR5010, 60" 4K Samsung LED LCD, XBOX ONE S
