More is all you need

My former system:
B-P-T BP 2.5 Power conditioner
Herron VTSP-2a tube pre
Sonos connect
Esoteric DV-50s SACD player
McIntosh MC352 Poweramp
B&W N802 speakers

Two weeks ago, after 20 years of no upgrading, I replaced my tube preamp and Sonos connect with a Moon 740P solid state pre and a Lumin D2 streamer, got a Tidal account and downloaded Roon, running a core on my Mac Pro.

The improvement to my system was profound... so much so my wife actually sat down and listened to several songs ! Next thing I know, I'm trading up my MC352 for an MC462 and my N802s for 802 D3s. Plus I bought a ~ $1000 AQ Earth XLR cable ! Speakers and amp get delivered next week. Next week I'm going to get dedicated 20amp circuits and I'm thinking of getting a PS Audio P15 or a used P10.

Does it ever end ?

Thats what I was worried about . I'd like to know at what point I am chasing after really subtle improvements vs larger ones.

For instance, getting a new pre was a large improvement. I'm assuming that my new amp and speakers will be large improvements.

The interconnects, dedicated circuits, power regenerator, high end power cords, etc... those could be more subtle, right ?

If you make several "improvements" (read investments) at once then we won't know which one is the kicker, so you are not helping us here.........just thought I would throw that in.

Amp not so much. Speaker have the biggest impact on the sound of your system.
