dual 506 turntable-headshell adapter question?

I inherited a dual 506 turntable from a friend who passed away. unfortunately the original dual headshell adapter literally fell apart on me. i found a replacement after market one on ebay (there were two companies in california offering them 269-611). Im not sure if i can post their names, but they are relatively cheap but by the time i add exchange, shipping, duties and taxes (im canadian) its starting to add up. Has anyone used one? did it work well? for sentimental reasons i would love to put the table back into use.

I don't have a direct answer but often when it comes to turntables, TT, the easiest way to get some specific part is to buy an entire TT used on ebay, etc., that has some major defect like a scratched or cracked dust cover. Nobody wants a TT with a cracked dust cover, yuck, so the people who unload them for parts on ebay, etc, are forced to sell them for really cheap prices. They are often listed as "As-is". There is also often some degree of crossover of interchangeable parts. So even if you can't find the exact model, you may find a model 505, 504, 507, etc., that's just as good for what you want, but of coarse I make no promises.

I owned three different Dual turntables in the 1970s and 1980s. The metal contacts in the headshells were fragile and would bend or snap off easily despite being handled gently. A slight bend would result in hum. Dual's headshells could drive one nuts.

There are several sellers of Dual parts on eBay. Possibly one of the California eBay dealers you referred to is Pat's Audio Parts (links below). He seems to be a good resource for Dual parts and repairs, offering what he says is a more robust 269-611 headshell for $30 (U.S.). He even has a mounted and aligned Audio-Technica AT95E phono cartridge on that headshell for $80 (U.S.) should you be interested. I do not know the final cost for delivery to Canada.
