How to intergrate 2CH Equip into modren Equip

My dilemma, want to integrate my 2CH MX-55 Reel to Reel into my home theater AVR that is a Denon AVR-X6500H. Problem is there is no "Out" RCA jacks for components. Is there a work around or gizmo box for this?

Someone on another forum asked this same question and was told to use the "Pre Out" Zone 2 RCA connection. Not sure if that is correct.

So, just to be clear, you want to play your Reel to reel through the Denon?

So you also desire a "REC OUT" from the Denon for recording. It's tough to find tape loops in AVR's/receivers anymore.

Since you posted a pic of your Sansui, do you wish to get rid of that or use that in conjunction with the Denon?

Use just the Denon, the guys at Tapehead Forum told me;

1) This has come up in the past. Plug the inputs to any “RCA” input you like. Use one of your zone outputs (zone 2 or zone 3) to create a tape loop. Set the volume to maximum on that zone then you can select the source you wish to record.

2) Using the headphone out on you AVR will also work.

I'm going to try the Zone 2 option.

Yes that will work. On some units the zone outs can be independent source selections and volume selections compared to the main room so be sure you have the zone outs set up correctly. If given the choice of "fixed" or variable level out (for the zone you end up using) you can use either one, however the "fixed" level will more likely reflect the exact level the reel-to-reel tape deck record circuit is expecting, without you having to futz around with it.

Per fol. photo, your [Vintage] Sansui AU-V99X has two sets of TAPE-LOOP RCA Jacks. Connect "TAPE-1 REC" to Recorder's Input and Recorder's Output to "TAPE-1 PLAY"....or alternatively use the TAPE-2 set [FYI: "TAPE-2 PCM" is handled SAME as TAPE-1 inside Sansui]:

When connecting Tape Deck to Denon AVR-X6500H you can use ANY of the Analog L/R Inputs to connect to "TAPE-1 PLAY". But there is an "Issue" when you connect "TAPE-1 REC" to "ZONE-2 L/R" RCA Output Jacks. In Denon AVR you need to set the "ZONE-2" Volume Level to a fairly LOUD Level so that it is at about "Line Level" going into the "TAPE-1 REC" RCA Jack to ensure acceptable Levels with maximum SNR in your Recordings....this is done INDEPENDENTLY from the Local Volume Level....and once set, you shouldn't have to fuss with it, instead using the Input Level Control and Meters on your Tape Deck.

BTW: Fol. Denon Connections section from Manual does NOT address using the "ZONE-2 L/R" RCA Output Jacks...only the OTHER PRE-OUT [#14] connections:

Yes I'm forcing myself into the 21st century but still want my old school audio. HA

My R2R is an Otari MX-55 and I also have the Pioneer RT-707 but don't use it very often as the MX-55 is a workhorse.
