The new Revel F226Be sounded great.

Wanted to hear the F328Be but none available there.

The AlsyVox Botticelli were awesome as well.

I wish the Benchmark group would have demoed with a different speaker company than ML.

The small subs seemed setup too hot.

Disappointed that I didn’t see Magnepan, KEF, and Dynaudio there.

Dynaudio had a room assignment but weren’t listed on the floor guide and weren’t in room show in booklet.

These did sound very good. Sounded much bigger than they are.

I thought these were “active” speakers and must be at a much higher price point.
They punch way beyond $500.

Was there any talk of how the new Debut Reference are different from the regular Debut 2.0 series? Interesting that they're pricing them right up against the Uni-Fi UB5s.

HT: Sony 940C, Oppo 203, Harman/Kardon DPR1001, Infinity Interlude IL40 x2, Infinity Interlude IL36C, Infinity MS-1 ii x2, Infinity MSW-1

I stopped by the KLH room, which has garnered positive feedback from folks to sat through the demo. But... I have these speakers at home! So I skipped the listening because I already know how they perform.

Really good price/performance/aesthetics ratio is the theme.

One of the most fun rooms at the show. HiFi Guides/Z Reviews/DMS. The lineup in the pic is Klipsch RP-600M, SVS Ultra Bookshelf, Edifier S3000 Pro, Vanatoo T LE, Kanto Tuk.

A pair of SVS SB3000 handle bass...

The "system" relies on miniDSP and JDS Labs gear.

For anyone skeptical of the value provided by the six-figure systems at shows like this, well... Having a room like this for reality check is really great! The FACT is all these speakers performed at a high level for tiny fractions of the price of the "high end" stuff.

Stack of Crown XLS 2002 amps providing power.

There's no way around it... Great sound is not expensive and much of what's found in many other rooms at this show are a terrible value compared to this lineup.

SVS Ultra Bookshelf stood out, even if it is an older design. Kanto TUK was my least favorite, too much treble!

Parts Express project... "Do I Need A Sub" aka DINA active speakers... Look it up for the plans.

Joe Mariano aka "Joe N Tell" giving the demos. Little "tube buffer" if you want some "friendly" distortion.

Back to ELAC to hear the new Debut Reference bookshelf model.

These are simply amazing $500 speakers. Andrew notes the new Debuts have a better crossover than the current Debut, same woofer but new cast basket with less resonance, and same tweeter but new waveguide. And the vent is now a slot.

I just snuck into the front row.

Love it when treble has "snap" to it but is not bright or grainy. Translates well for pop music or classical. Arguably their ability to handle orchestral music is the greatest trick performed by Andrew Jones latest design.

Mark, don't leave us hanging! You're our ears as well as eyes at the show. Those speakers are insane looking, with some intriguing claims!

How did they sound? Was there anything sonically interesting that came from such a novel design?

(That speaker would give me nightmares, aesthetically. Like speakers imagined by David Lynch).

OK... Back in the Endow room. Center seat. Right now it's You And Your Friend by Dire Straits. It's playing loud, I'm not convinced waiting for the next track, some guitar licks are sounding a bit harsh. Not enough in this mix to judge imaging.

Hey Laura by George Porter sounds pretty good and here the speaker disappear, there's good bass coming from these too. I like how the sax and piano sound here. Still not sure if this treble would not be fatiguing. Waiting for the next track.

Oh I just heard the price... "$39,000 for the show otherwise $44,000"

No way!!! That's nuts, I'm done...

Sorry I was told to check out these plasma tweeters. All the Way by Dena Rose is playing.

Good treble? Sure. But sticker shock! Also 400 watt 12" sealed sub for $2200? Is this the twilight zone?

Tube amps that cost as much as a nice powered the whole innocuous sounding thing.

I sincerely feel that at $6K per pair the Polk Legend L800 towers are the best value true high-end flagship tower speakers at RMAF 2019.

After-show listening to tracks of my choosing cemented it... The imaging these speakers are capable of is mind-blowing, easily putting sounds way far outside their physical separation. Blaze Mountain from Sounds from the Ground's new album Binary had sounds that seemed to literally be to my sides, that's how far the panoramic imaging stretched! But the speakers themselves are conventionally positioned.

Nothing else I heard here imaged like these.

The Legend L200 bookshelf is also on demo here at RMAF 2019. It shows that this new series is built on a good foundation in terms of components and cabinets and crossover and the impact of all that on overall fidelity.

It's not a high end show without some Wilson insanity. These were not playing but hey they are nice to photograph!

The speaker in white is the new Chronosonic XVX which costs a cool $329,000 per pair.
