Any of you guys received your M33 yet? We're on a slow train here in the UK. My local dealer is expecting a delivery of M33's around mid May.

No, pandemic slowed things down for several months.

Ah well I guess we've all got to wait for things to pick-up again.

I got an update today from my hifi-store. The new expected arrival date is in June. Also, the price went up by 500 € to 5499 €. Fortunately the offer I received when making the order still stands so I don't have to pay more. That price increase, though, is quite substantial.

I can imagine an email from NAD saying "We are sorry for the delayed sales start, but we are making up for it by increasing the price by 500 €." 😄

I'm currently waiting for the M33 to arrive so I can compare it to the Naim Uniti Nova. The Nova's sound quality is out of this world but the M33 has a lot of features that I want, i.e. Dirac, phone stage, separate sub outputs.

Just spoke with my NAD dealer and he indicated that the M33s will not be available until July/August.

That is unfortunate but not surprising. Really enjoy my current Purifi streamer and looking forward to the M33...

NAD seems to have had a mixed bag when it comes to being fully Roon Ready. Anyone know if the M33 will be Roon Ready on release?

Don't know but I'll be disappointed if these price increases materialize. In real audible terms what does it offer above and beyond the M10?

3 dB more power output which is fairly insignificant

Cleaner PA -- but how audible is the difference?

+ Headphone amp and jack

+ MM/MC phono input

+ Physical volume knob on front panel

+ IR remote

I'm probably missing something important but is the above worth almost double the cost?

I can't answer that question, but can tell you that in the past it's been Roon who was slow to certify the devices rather than NAD.

That may be... dunno. But all the heavy lifting to write and test the software to meet Roon Ready requirements is on NAD. Roon then has to verify compliance and my understanding is that most do not meet all requirements initially thus requiring multiple testing cycles. But who knows, perhaps Roon was slow in getting units fully tested.

I suspect the biggest difference is the new Purifi amp technology. I'm excited to hear it and my guess is that it will sound and test better than the M10 but as to whether it'll be worth the big price increase? Gotta wonder what made them bump the price before it's even released. Did it cost more to make than they thought or is the early buzz and early orders just so good that it rationalized a price bump. We're probably still a few months away from initial reviews.

That's what I meant by "cleaner amp." But look at the levels of distortion and noise we're talking about between the two. I know others will disagree but IMO we're mostly talking about stroking one's ego by knowing one has "the best" technology regardless of whether it's audible.

In my case the extra 3 dB helps with inefficient speakers, but it's only 3 dB. The only other thing I can speculate is that the mechanical/thermal/electrical/packaging design will be more refined in the M33. I've been bothered reading of the high case temperatures seen while testing and using the M10. Plus you're cramming roughly the same amount of stuff into a much small enclosure.

Here's a tradeoff worth thinking about with apologies that this is not 2 channel equipment. $5500 for the M33 or $4000 for the 13 channel (15 processing) Denon AVR-X8500H? When used for 2 channel listening sure the M33 still has more muscle, but again, we're talking about trivial differences. Audyssey vs Dirac? Most would choose Dirac but with the $20 app Audyssey is a good bit closer. BluSound versus HEOS for streaming? Not familiar with either but both provide the basic capability. I'm guessing the M33 will do internal processing at 96 ksps in the M33 instead of 48 in the 8500 which is more elegant if not audible.

Just not sure the value is there with the M33.

The price bump? Same as my M10 that I bought for $2100 when list price was $2495. Days after I brought it home, the list price bumped up to $2795.

It seems a "new regulation" was imposed and another country didn't seem to pay it.
