Laserdisc DTS

I just bought a pioneer Cld-m90 laserdisc player and a DTS copy of Jurassic Park .
It seems to make a white noise sound when played. Apparently I need a DTS decoder. What is that and how do I hook it up to my surround sound system?
Thanks so much

You need to buy a laserdisc player with an optical or coax digital output. Then you feed that to you system that is able to decode DTS.

Sound like you have Jurassic Park AC-3 THX which will require a demodulator to play AC-3 Laserdisc. Grab a non AC-3 Laserdisc off eBay and I bet you will be able to play that.

Sony VPL-VW285ES Projector / Denon AVR-X6500H Receiver / Aircom T10 Cooling Fan
Sony BDP-S790 3D/Blu-Ray / Sony UBP-X700 4K UHD
Pioneer DVL-909 Laserdisc / Lexicon LDD-1 Demodulator
Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD/VHS

Built into most AV receivers made in the last 20 years.

Oh man, that brings back memories. I remember getting Jurassic Park on LaserDisc and hooking up to my Harmon Kardon AVR and Infinity speakers with a Kenwood subwoofer. That T-Rex caused me to catch an incurable disease of upgraditis!

You need a laserdisc player with an optical of coax digital output, the lower end models don’t have that. The M90 does not have it.

Manual [1991] for your Pioneer CLD-M90...as mentioned above, it only supports Stereo:
http://dl.jehandleiding.nl/new/exter...eSC=M&direct=1

LD FAQ talks about the various audio "issues" that frustrate LD listeners:
http://www.precisionlaserdisc.com/newfaq.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaserDisc [LD Wiki Article]

If you know Where to do the mod, it is possible to modify Pioneer [and other] LD Players in order to tap off the modulated 2.88 MHz Audio Carrier and pass it to an AC3 RF Demodulator ["Custom" board shown could be external LD AC3 RF Adapter]....but you are better off buying a later LD model that does supports Coax and/or Optical Output:
http://www.laaudiofile.com/ac3mod.html

AC3 RF Demodulators on FleaBay for use with LD Players that have AC3 RF Output:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...D+AC3&_sacat=0

FYI: If you find another LD that only has Coax Digital Audio Output (via RCA connector)....and your AVR doesn't support Coax Input, you can get a Coax-to-Optical Converter, such as:
https://www.amazon.com/C2G-40018-Coa.../dp/B0002J2MV4

BTW: DTS is a different digital format contained within a DD5.1/SPDIF "container" that an AVR looks at to determine which Decoder to use.
