You have to take the top off and see what the tray is hitting when trying to open which results in it changing to close.

When you press open the tray should raise up and then a second motor should push it out. You need to watch it the tray is being fully raised to start the slide out step. You can help raise the tray by pressing forward white plate forward to assist the motor or just manually press it forward and then once up you can push the tray forward. You could have a slipping or broke belt.

Fol. Service Manual Download costs $4.99, but perhaps you can find one on-line for Free:

Owner's Manual Download & Review of A/V limitations...and available upgrades....suggest you do further research:

You need to unplug the unit then push the white plate of the left side forward to raise the tray and then push it out. Then plug in the unit and see if it will pull the tray back in and drop it. There are too many different things that could be bad, motors, power supply, logic boards, switches, etc. that could be bad or maybe manually opening it will get it going.

If you cannot do this then I’d return it.
