Vtb2:

Nope, that way is not the way to get the hidden password window. Only the way I listed on the starting thread will determine it.

The disc cannot be copied since it contains region information. It can only be copied using an authorized burner and media. Using a regular burner will copy fine but once you use it on your player, you'll find out you will need to bring it to repair because your firmware gets corrupted.

---

Furious, that cannot be done. There isn't a part number either and my screen shots prove it. You can contact the Panasonic rep but they most likely won't say anything about it or say there is no such thing.

Hey Sango, finally heard back from your contact, and i can confirm that your sequence of key pushes does indeed bring up the password window for the DENON DVD-1600, so that is great i will be getting the disc from him.
thanks

Hi Vtb2:

Wow what a suprize. Well there maybe a chance that it will work, but have your fingers crossed if it doesn't. Strange, that it doesn't work on the RP82 because most likely the software is different.

Hi Sango,

I got my service disk. Had no luck with my RP62 ver 073. And RP91 ver 302.
I will try to down grade the players firmware. Do you know where I can get the PR62 other firmware from???? or and older firmware version! I found the RV91.

I also tried it on my RV30 and it worked like a charm.(FYI) And a RV31 too!
RV30 firmware is 453 and RV31 is 45C373!

Thanks a lot! and Keep it the good work! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still a no go on the RP62 and RP91 players.

Maybe there is another sequence or service disk for these players?

Has anyone from Aus. tried to get the disk from Panasonic for the RP82 or another newer player??? Maybe the XP30 or XP50??

Could someone try?

Any thought's or help would be great.

Later!

jtakeman, no go how? Are you not getting the password window? If not then you'll need to upgrade the firmware. I did an RP91 recently and have an Xp30 coming to try it on.

By the sounds of it, it doesn't seem like he's doing the key sequence correctly.

Te disc doesn't work on like RP82 and the others. Just performing the key sequence will determine if the unit is capable of doing it or not.

Here is proof that the RP91 does work with the lastest 262 firmware.

However, I do know the RP62 is also applicable to the SVC Disc #2 as well.

Well I got it to work on my RV30 and RV 31 players! And I upgraded the player(RP91 to ver 262 frimware). and it worked!

But it still a no go on the RP62 player. Must be like the RP82 player.

What is the firmware version on the RP62?????????????????????? Mine is 073! and I have no response to the key sequence!

Let me know how you make out with the XP player!

Well off to JVB to buy the chip mod for the RP62 player!

Thanks and see ya later!

Hi Jay:

I guess it's my mistake. I was told that it works on the 62 since it was similar to that of the RP56 but I guess it wasn't true as you mentioned different software. Hmm I wonder if it works with the CP changers too!

The mod is also a good alternative. Technically it can be better than the SVC Disc 2 if you want the PAL capability as well. When you get the mod, JVB will send the patched version of the firmware (which will be a number up) for firmware to talk to the mod kit. When they do send you the firmware, it's only for that one unit only as the file size is really small.

Hope this helps

Sango thanks for the info on JVB.

I was hoping the service disk did the trick but hay. Can't win them all.

I will also get the bonus of DVD recorder friendly with the JVB kit! I will be able to back up to my Mini DV recorder. I have a portable Sony recorder\\player in the car for the kids. Has a monitor ta boot!

Thanks for all the help!

I just did the JVB firmware upgrade on my RP91 and can confirm that the unit is now showing firmware version 263. The RP91 came from JVB with version 260. JVB is no longer shipping the newest firmware disc with their players. If you get a mod kit I would first make certain that JVB is providing the newest firmware.

Thanks for the tip! I asked JVB for the latest firmware and they did have it. Player is upgraded and play's awesome! The DVD backup's are real nice. As close to the store bought I ever saw!
I gotta get this kit for the RP91.

A friend tried the sequence on his RV22u and it's like the RP62-RP82 players! I tried this with a RV32 at my Uncle's and got nothin with the sequence there either. Seems to only work with the RV?1, RV?6, RP?1, and RP?6 players.

I have used the service disk on the RV30. It went through the sequence but did not work. The RV31 is region 0 and Vcr friendly! My RP91 is also region 0 and VCR friendly! I will try a RV26 when I get to New Hampshire this summer(at the cottage.)!

I want to thank SANGO and others for all the great info.

Hi Jay:

Well the SVC Disc #2 only supposed to work on the players listed on the start thread. RP91 and RP56 are discoveries. I guess you can try other players as well and see what happends thou =)

I did try my Panasonic A470-EN a while back and even thou it shows the password window, the unit does nothing when it reads the disc. Luckily my unit is already modified so I do not have to worry too much about it.

Hi Vtb2:

Oh my !! weeeeeeeeeeeee!

Well now we know 1600 works with it. The software is about the same as the DVD-RP82 isn't it? I'm still curious how the password window popped up on the Denon.

what do you mean, "no affect"? I tested the macrovision by routing the dvd output into my vcr, and it recorded it with no macrosvison.

What I mean by that is that I can't get the hidden password window to pop up. I'm referring to the RP82, not the 1600.

Gotcha. Anybody done it on a Panny CV51 (5 disc cousin of the RV31) or on the F87? I see the F85 can be purchased new as a region free or "code-free" player.

The service disc is in the dvd-r authoring media format, so copies need to be authored or duplicated in the dvd-r authoring media format. NOT THE dvd-r general media format.

My source for the disc has dvd-r authoring duplication and he is charging $15 for a copy of the disc shipped. I will PM his email info to folks once I confirm the disc works and does not damage the RP91.

So, if you would like contact info for a copy of the Panasonic service disc, send me a PM and I PM you my source info.

cheers

RJ

Was there any confirmation of this working on a RP91?

Hi Jeff:

Yes, this was verified months ago, like near the end of last year. Also when reading the other threads, which you did(I saw the replies) the answer is also there.

Hi-

Does anyone in Colorado have this service disk#2? I am in Superior.

Would anyone be willing to mail one to me? I assume it works with the latest firmware as linked in Sango's firmware thread.

Thanks,

Panny UB820, Denon X6300H in 6.1.4 mode, Epson 5040UB, SVS PCUltra paired with a MiniDSP HD and BEQ (of course!)

Any idea if this macrovision-free and region-free tweak will work for the DVD CV51 5 disc carousel?

If you can get the hidden password window to appear it's possible, but cannot confirm for sure.
