The series is at least a couple years old. It's possible they heard such a rumor and used it as a basis for the episode.

I haven't seen Utopia, but I sure do wish someone would get the rights to keep producing Continuum. It's in the final season, and they've shortened it to just 6 episodes. I admit I haven't watched them yet, so I don't know how they ended the series. (I think it ended earlier this month)
Utopia is considered by many TV critics as the best sci-fi series of the century so far. You can get the Blu-Ray of the first season. Make sure it is the two disc version because they issued two versions. The two disc is not region coded and if you have a player that can handle it it will play. My Sony player won't but the Samsung will. Reason is that it still apparently has streams encoded for PAL. Generally if you want a region free Blu-Ray (I have a few of those even from Hollywood studios) you author it 24 fps.

Figured so which is why I was unsure of buying the season. I think when Syfy's consideration of picking up season 2 was iffy Netflix jumped in an supplied some funding for the rights to show it after the cable VOD window. They probably also did it for remaining season. Makes me wonder if they did same for Z Nation which showed earlier in the year after it's VOD window. Or they just have some deal going with Comcast/Universal/NBC maybe because they had to pay Comcast?

With anything SciFi, especially with time travel, it's always possible to find some way to resume, but it did come to a respectable close. You can check out Wikipedia or web sites for spoilers if you want.

It was announced a couple months back to be on Netflix. I even contacted Netflix support when it didn't come up. Their answer was the lists it was mentioned on were "unofficial". But it did catch them by surprise. It might have been that someone there mistook "Dreamland" that did have a secondary title of "Utopia" for the UK show. It looks like HBO tied down the rights to include the ability for sites like Netflix to show the original version. It's too bad because the Fincher version blew up over budget issues. Outside of the public complaining about British accents and "them black bars" there's no reason it couldn't have played successfully even on some of the cable network channels like AMC (as the UK series "Humans" did). It shown in 2:35:1 which is why I mentioned the "black bars" phobia.

I notice that Netflix has just added Ex Machina, an excellent "thinking man's sci-fi" psychological thriller.

EDIT: Ooops! Not in the US. Sorry about that.

I ended up watching the final episodes online. I really like the show, but one thing that's really frustrating and irritating about it, is, Kira is so worried about getting back to her own time, even though she's already influenced the future SO much it's really unlikely that her future even exists anymore, that a lot of people die because her decisions. IOW, while she always wants to do the "right thing," sometimes doing the "right thing" interferes with her getting what she wants, so she skirts around it or puts it off and people end up dead who probably wouldn't have died if she would've just done the right thing to begin with. (does that make sense?) Anyway. I like how they tied the show up in the end, but the last 6 episodes were kind of a mess, if you ask me.

I tried to find Utopia online because it wasn't on netflix, and the only one I've seen is some reality show Fox is doing. ???

Yeah, Fox also had a show called "Utopia". Here's the IMDB listing for the UK show.

And you might want to dig around on YouTube a bit.

Sweet ! Season 4's cliffhanger would have been a horrible way for the series to end. No show should have a season end like that unless they're absolutely certain of renewal. I'm still bitter about The Glades.

I wandered away from Longmire fairly early in its first season, for reasons I can no longer recall. I gather from your post that you are enthusiastic about the show. Would you recommend that I give it another shot?

I liked it well enough that I binged through all 4 seasons in 2 or 3 weeks. I thought that it was well written and acted and that the character of Longmire is surprisingly interesting and nuanced.

For me it is has been comfort food and warm fuzzy slippers all the way. And while the stories are mostly good it is the people I love, especially Robert Taylor who plays Walt Longmire the Sheriff. This last season might be the best yet.

Also with the move to Netflix there are fewer episodes (10), but they average around an hour each, so the stories don't seemed rushed like many shows running 42-44 minutes on broadcast and cable shows.

It's unlikely they will get updated. TNG was popular enough to spend the money to scan in the original film, re-edit it, and redo all the video effects in HD. I doubt there is enough demand to update DS9 and VOY, assuming they were made similar to TNG (recorded on film, then converted to video for editing.)
