I just sat through the excruciatingly painful butt nugget and wish dearly I could claw back the 94 minutes of agony that clunker put me through. Bad science, HORRIBLE CGI, mind-numbingly disjointed plot. Poor Katee ... while her career hasn't really blossomed since BSG, the only help this steaming coiler will give it is towards her long, slow slide to oblivion.

Why would it be any sillier than a "gems and finds" thread?

So is this thread suitable for expressing an opinion that something sucks, given its title?

The Thread Title is self explanatory .. if you want to start an alternate / opposite Thread, go for it ..

Did you use the exact language you posted earlier? If so, my guess would be that is why it was deleted. Maybe try a different title?

I was unsure of it to begin with but did think it developed quite nicely. It's a UK production. Thing is with sci-fi or horror is fans have certain criteria they like to see and if content diverges from that criteria they often don't like it even if it is well produced.

I did. It's not that it was posted and subsequently deleted, it's that I simply got a blank page when I clicked the "Submit" button and no thread was created. I tried again with Chrome instead of Firefox and got a 500 error.

I tried a TV Y7 subject line and got the same thing.

"Turd" doesn't appear to be on the censored list, unlike ****, ******* and **********. I'm guessing "fart" isn't on the list either.

I guess we have wildly different opinions on what "well produced" means if you think it describes 2036OU.

Putting that aside ...

What really annoys me is when terminology is used without any understanding of the terms themselves. A couple of examples from the "film:"
  • A shot of a computer display that is indicating some sort of scanning of multi-GHz "Frequency Waves." Yah, no. "Frequency" is just fine all by itself. "Waves" is redundant and made no sense in that context.
  • A verbal description of the cube, spinning on its "perpendicular" axis. Perpendicular to WHAT?!? "Vertical axis," fine. "Longitudinal axis," not so much (after all, it's a cube), but still better than "perpendicular" without a corresponding frame of reference.

Other annoyances:
  • That stupid cube spins on a flat facet when viewed from the side, but a corner when viewed from above? Nice attention to detail there.
  • Watching the oxygen level in the "command center" drop like a countdown timer was ridiculous. It was a fairly large room and there's no way oxygen would be consumed that quickly.
  • Mars does NOT have wind/sand storms remotely like the ones shown. "The Martian" took a lot of heat for exaggerating them (albeit with far better special effects).

And yeah, I know this belongs in a different thread. I'd create one if I could ...

To be honest, I watched it nearly a year ago and I couldn't get past the first half of the BD version. IMO, Sackhoff did it for the money.

How do I find Amazon Prime UHD content from the Amazon Prime web page on my computer? It's sure impossible to find it from within any streaming app I know about. For example, when I looked earlier Last Flag Flying was not included on the Amazon Prime app's list of Prime UHD movies.

Most of what appears there is about technical stuff, not the content. But someone just started a new thread about Amazon Prime content:

Thanks, but I was looking for a thread about Prime "gems and finds," not just a list of new movies/shows. AVS does have this thread:
https://www.avsforum.com/forum/184-v...ant-video.html

...but it seems to focus on technical issues people are having with Prime, such as how to find Dolby Atmos material.

Outlaw King (2018) - Chris Pine. Film tries to portray what happened after the death of William Wallace - Braveheart.

Advertised heavily by Netflix so not exactly a hidden gem. Story is loaded with historical inaccuracies but still entertaining.

I sorta binged all 8 episodes of "Diablero", a Mexican series with a twist on demon hunting. It's horror but with a bit of comic relief and available in UHD. I found it very entertaining and at around 40 minutes per episodes an easy binge.

Hold The Dark (2018) - Jeffrey Wright and Alexander Skarsgård.

A trippy and atmospheric movie. People doing extremely violent things with little or no explanation.

Worth a watch if you don't mind movies with non-endings.

However it does offer some closure. I recommend watching this interview AFTER watching the film.

Tried to get through Ep One last night based on your recommendation .. just could not get into it .. maybe I'm just getting tired of the Horror genre in general .. PQ was nice, though ..

Anyone know what settings can be used to prevent Netflix from reducing the end credits of a movie to a small box in the upper left hand corner of the screen while prompting you to select the next episode and/or a recommended movie?
