The truth is, for me anyway, the camo towers blend in pretty good .. unless you're looking for it, you sure don't notice it near as much as a bare tower ..

That particular species of "palm tree" is the only palm tree native to California.

That's a fan palm and there are a few in the neighborhood. I have a different kind in the front. I saw a lot of Queen Palms in India. The neighbors were concerned about kids playing around them. I didn't have a dog in the fight at the time as I was still on Verizon but I use T-Mobile now which is having it's issues nowadays. Otherwise I would have asks the protesting neighbors if they had a wifi router in the house.

I was actually joking about how palm trees(other than cell towers) are not a native plant but as it turns out that fan palm is the only palm native to North America.

Learn some new nearly useless information every day.

Actually the Sabal palm is indigenous to the South East.

I believe we are a bit off topic here. Maybe we can start a Dendrology thread! Know any lawn and garden forums?

Thumbs up Don't you just love it? Part 2

From Rep. Frank Pallone and Rep. Mike Doyle, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, in reference to Pai's upcoming congressional review:

Quote:
With the start of 116th Congress, the Committee will reassume its traditional role of oversight to ensure that the agencies under its jurisdiction are acting in the best interest of the public and consistent with their legislative authority. Given your role as Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), it is your responsibility to make certain the Commission performs its duties according to those standards.
When you were nominated for the chairmanship almost two years ago, we shared some thoughts on how to achieve success at managing the FCC. While much has changed during that time, our advice to you remains the same-to be responsive to members of Congress on both sides of the aisle; to drive towards consensus on all major FCC actions; and to respect the invaluable expertise of the career staff, which gives the FCC the credibility it needs to carry out its regulatory mission. Unfortunately, this has not happened.
Not only have you have failed on numerous occasions to provide Democratic members of this Committee with responses to their inquiries,
1) you have also repeatedly denied or delayed responding to legitimate information requests from the public about agency operations. These actions have denied the public of a full and fair understanding of how the FCC under your leadership has arrived at public policy decisions that impact Americans every day in communities across the country.
2) Separately for each of the bureaus or offices above, categorize the pending items by type (for instance, license application, license renewal, etc.) and then within each category, list each item and identify the name of the petitioner or licensee that initiated the item, if any, and the length of time the item has been pending.
3) According to the agency's website, the FCC receives thousands of informal complaints each week. Provide the total number of consumer complaints the FCC received in 2017 and 2018. In addition, provide the number of consumer complaints the FCC has received in the following categories in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019:

Here's a slightly different spin on the ruling.https://www.yahoo.com/news/us-court-fcc-had-dump

The bad, it doesn't support NN legislation nation wide. The good, states can enforce NN with out interference from the Feds. Here in NJ, ISP's that fail to support NN policies will lose their privilege to operate here. Most 'blue' states have similar priorities, where as many 'red' sates may not be as receptive to those type of rules when it comes to consumer protection.

Yeah, that was my take as well .. I think, just in speculation, that unless a Nationwide NN becomes the ticket, nothing stops an ISP from throttling in a State that has no NN .. thus, since the grid is all interconnected, etc ..

I would think there would be consequences for an ISP that operated in a NN state, if that throttling you speak of, affected the end user in that NN state.

Yes, what I'm saying is if the State next door does not follow NN, and the infrastructure runs thru that State ..

NN deals more with the services that run on the infrastrure than the actual infrastructure itself. It's kinda hard to "throttle" somebody by changing the physical characteristics of a cable.
