Movies Anywhere Now Plays 4K/HDR

https://help.moviesanywhere.com/hc/e...ort-4K-or-HDR-

Quite a list of devices for a start is good. My initial viewing backs up rumors I've heard that the quality of the HDR is superior to iTunes and Vudu. For those trapped in HDR digital viewing only this is big, big news. My initial comparison on Starship Troopers had me liking it in iTunes Dolby Vision over MA's (Movies Anywhere) HDR. For the movie Hidden Figures, MA's HDR beat iTunes HDR version rather handily on my LG OLED. One title the Mummy 2 was not HDR on MA. Still for HDR viewing it appears Movies Anywhere playback is a major leap forward for digital playback.

Of course, MA does not have Atmos so far.
hobbs47 likes this.

HDMI Gone Wild - Audio HDMI Chains: (min. upmixed Atmos) Sony X700(Vudu, etc.)
Oppo UDP-203-->LG OLED65B7 and SamsungK950 (4K Atmos discs and files + 2 more subs!)
XboxOneS-->K950 (DTS discs, 2K files, Fandango 2K DTSHD)
ATV4K-->AVRkey-->XboxOneS-->K950 (iTunes and Vudu atmos, &Infuse - dd5.1)
Roku Premiere+-->Oppo UDP-203-->K950(Fandango and MA HDR, DD+)

Well just compared Revenant HDR on FandangoNow and MA. MA looked and sounded noticeably better (higher bit rate on video, and DD+ seemed a bit more robust than Fandango which is possible given the wide range of data rates allowed under DD+).

Hi, anyone here that can help me to create an account on movies anywhere? I have 2 codes for digital movies that I haven't redeemed and both are available in 4K . Seems like I have to be in the US to create the account. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

I couldn't find any way to price a movie unless I registered; which I prefer not to do until I decide I want the service. How much are the movie rentals?

You don't buy or rent on Movies Anywhere. You are given a menu to select a provider to use whether iTunes, VUDU, Google Play, Amazon Video, Fandango, etc.

New movie rentals (when they become available) are generally around $6.

I've been noticing that VUDU pricing for rentals is often the same for all three tiers SD, HDX and UHD. Depends on the title.

Typically codes from outside the US will not redeem inside the US, and vice-versa. You need to redeem the codes for whatever URL/website/service is provided with the code.

If for some reason you have a US code and you are not in the US, you could try to redeem in in your area anyway. If it doesn't work (very likely), then use a VPN with a US endpoint (to make it look like you are in the US), then try to redeem the code again.

I'm having a hard time understanding how MA works. If it is a shell for actual movie streaming services why would I use it instead of the base service? For instance, I have a Roku Ultra and a Vudu account and can go there and rent a movie for whatever the cost is. Why would I use MA to watch the same movie?

I just use it to link my digital service's together. Vudu is my first go to for watching content.

No it does not cost anything to join. Once you sign up you can link streaming services to it. I have VUDU, Fandango Now, Amazon and Google link to Movies Anywhere. I don't Apple or use Microssoft video, so I don't have them linked.

I looked more closely at it and all it talks about is purchase. I only rent. Does it work for rentals also?

They don't really sell anything. It gives options to buy,rent from other retailers.

That's too bad. If I understand this product it is basically a search tool for all the video services. So it would be nice if Netflix was one of them.

It's not a search tool. It's like the ultraviolet locker for purchased media to link between streaming services. Since you do not purchase digital media to own on Netflix there is no reason to link the service.

If you're looking for a search tool, I like JustWatch app (or website, JustWatch.com).
