Neither have I (roku and Shield), surely we would hear more about it if it was widespread.

Two Sony 75Z9D's with the built in app. One is wired to the router, the other wifi. Service from Comcast.

They both get full 2160 DV signal immediately and remain solidly locked.

Happy Healthy New Year!

My Sony 900F is still only outputting stereo through optical, while other internal apps can output 5.1 Dolby Digital. There are no updates available for the app either.

Still unable to login

Now going on three weeks unable to get past login screen. I have spoken with both my ISP and Disney Plus tech support. Neither can provide an explanation nor a solution. From reading multiple Reddit etc discussions this issue is widespread. Either Comcast is blocking Disney Plus access to my IP address, or Disney Plus has a glitch making it unable to navigate through the IP address. Thankfully my subscription is free through my Verizon account, so it's an "oh well" situation. If I were paying I would be royally ticked off. I'm guessing that one day when I randomly attempt to login the problem will have resolved itself. I'm considering swapping routers to acquire a different IP address, but that's a hassle I shouldn't have to go through just to access a service that frankly, I can take or leave. I do miss Baby Yoda, though...

You could try using a VPN.

Yeah, but I have my home network zipping along and dont feel like flashing my router etc...just because one service is unavailable. This falls under the "annoying" category...no big deal. If it resolves itself, fine. Disney Plus is certainly not a "must have" for us.

Frequent buffering (4-5 times during 2 hours movie). Forget about rewinding - you will wait for up to a minute for video to resume. Note that I use multiple other streaming services on this Roku box (IMDB TV, VUDU, YouTube, etc) and have none of these issues anywhere else.

Mandalorian is not very good, don't get where 8.9 IMDB rating comes from. I would give it a 4 tops. Expensive production lacking plot and real character development.

Roku app for D+ is awful. Did you ever use a website so badly coded that you thought: "Gee, did the person who coded it ever used internet?" Yes, it is this bad. There is no indication of what shows or movies you watched. Good luck keeping track of 30 seasons of Simpson's. I don't think it saves a spot in the specific episode if you have to stop watching and come back to it later either.
I have yet to see any buffering with Disney+ on any device I've used. And that includes a 2016 Roku Ultra, 2019 Roku Ultra, a ROku TCL TV, and a Roku Streaming Stick+.
And my progress was always saved on every device I used with Disney+.

Can you access the service using a cell phone?
Are you using the Comcast DNS servers or have you inputted DNS servers of your own choosing?

I had the same issue as you, @Dargent0628 . Someone suggested cloning my PC's MAC address in my router. I did that and it fixed my issue. I haven't thought about it since.

You mentioned Comcast so I'm assuming you have cable broadband. Have you tried connecting a computer directly to the broadband modem bypassing the router? It might help narrow down where the problem lies.

So I read that Disney Plus is already removing titles? Why would this be and I don't like it? There is no reason a streaming service that one the very content that are offering to lose anything.

Previously signed agreements. The titles will be back once that agreement ends. This has been known for some time that any title that has an existing arrangement in place (like some of the SW/Marvel movies) would be removed and return once that period of time ends.

I'd like the "The Punisher" on + soon.

There is nothing above TV14/PG13 on Disney+. Anything considered too mature will be on Hulu (eventually).

That's too bad since it was on Netflix in Dolby Vision, and the pq of Hulu just down and out stinks, no greater than 1080p and 2 ch stereo.

Hulu offers 4K SDR for its originals (depends on device) and we know that at least a few of the shows are finished 4K DV. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Hulu start rolling out 4K HDR (DV/HDR10) in 2020.

And Hulu also has 5.1 content. Some devices don't have access to it though.

I'm streaming through a Fire Cube and every other service is flawless. Hardware is not the issue, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm using a combo modem/router right now that I got when I first bought the house and all my stuff was still in the other house in another state. Now I've got the good router and modem back and will probably swap, which will assign me a new IP address. I've been putting it off because the network is pretty good and the new house has a lot of other chores, but I'm going to do it this weekend. We'll see!

Same with my 930E. I just signed up to watch the Mandalorean today, and didn't realize this was an issue. It plays 5.1 for a few seconds then goes to two channel stereo. Really disappointing.

Any word on whether Disney+ will support moving the subtitles into the scope frame? tried to watch Star Wars with my kids and the subtitles for alien language (Greedo!) were cut off.

I wonder if they are only outputting Dolby Digital Plus rather than just Dolby Digital? AFAIK optical does not support Dolby Digital Plus.

Are you zooming up the picture for some reason? If it's a 2.35:1 on a 16:9 (1.78:1) TV, then the letterboxing is normal and should be left alone.

Yes, I have a 2.76:1 ultrapanavision screen and I watch all content in original aspect ratio. constant image height. The subtitles fall outside of the picture area and get cut off when they are played at 2.39:1.

Since I use an anamorphic lens for ratios at or greater than 2.35:1 (actually 2.37), the subtitles don't even show below the screen, they are gone.

its possible, and I am running optical. Does this mean I'll need a new receiver to fix this issue?

I'm not sure if 5.1 or ATMOS is working at all with Sony TVs. The few reports in this thread were other brands. The other streaming apps I use have no problem with 5.1.

Problem resolved. Have been thinking about installing a mesh network so I treated myself to an Orbi. Had it set up within a half hour and Disney Plus is loading and performing flawlessly. Had to have been a conflict with the previous IP address. Fingers crossed the fix sticks.
