Is it correct to state that Atmos is not working for The Mandalorian on any device as of yet? And is it marked to be in Atmos?

Thanks

All I can say is for me, on my ATV, The Mandalorian says 5.1 and that’s what is being sent to my processor. 5.1. Not Atmos

I wonder if that's because the Apple TV4K handles audio data transmission differently than other streaming devices.

As far as I can tell, it is *not* marked to be in Atmos. And my AVR confirms that. It plays in Dolby Digital +.

No. I’ve tried 3 devices and had the same result on all of them. The mandalorian just isn’t in atmos.

With the newest app on my Sony 930e update I lost Dolby Vision that was working yesterday. Tried VUDU and get Dolby Vision and Atmos no issues. Hopefully it will get all sorted out at some point.

Probably good to say what device(s) this occurred on. For me I haven’t seen any change even after the update the other day. DolbyVision is getting activated as it should when it should on the AppleTV 4K.

For those of you that want the original 4:3 aspect ratio for The Simpsons, it looks like early 2020 you’ll get your wish:

It *was* marked as atmos, but they have changed the markings many times already. Also, the movies still display atmos, but does not play in atmos on all(?) devices.

(also a pirated version of episode 1 with a 768kbps atmos track exists, um... i've been told... )

*edit* oh wait, it is marked with atmos on my FTV4KS *again*, but still only plays in 256kbps 5.1...

Disney + not available for Samsung TVs older than three years.

This doesn't encourage me to want to try this service if I can't even use it on my Smart TV. Why would such a restriction exist for a streaming service? Netflix works just fine on devices as old as the Playstation 3.

Because eventually companies no longer want to support old devices. NetFlix is about to have another purge of devices next month.

The Netflix purge is at least going as far back as TVs that have come out in 2011 (9 years) which is more reasonable than 3 years. Who's buying a new TV every three years?! We're in an age where devices are either not allowed to age or built to only last a short period of time before we have to buy a new one. It's ridiculous.

That's great. Kinda dubious that this was planned though. They probably just responded to the feedback. But that's a good thing.

In reference to your picture, what are you using to stream D+? I’m using a TCL 4K tv with DV/HDR/ATMOS connected to a Marantz via HDMI/ARC

I’ve enclosed 4 pictures, the first two are of the mandalorian and the last two are of the avengers

Note the different tech listings between the title page and the detail page for each movie.

In this case the detail tab shows no tech specifications; your capture of this page shows full tech specs.

The details tab shows what is tech supported by/for this title. Notice it lists ATMOS

So far for me with D+, all the video technology is working perfectly to include 4K/DV/HDR, as for the audio, anything with ATMOS listed under the details tab only actually plays as DD+ 5.1

I do have two ATMOS systems with one 5.1.2 and one 7.1.4, both have TCL Roku 4K tv's and both support DV/HDR10/ATMOS but i'm only getting 5.1 audio from D+

Disney and possibly some hardware manufacturers have some work to do to make sure whatever tech you have gets supported properly.

TCL-65R615, 55P605 DV/HDR10 & 49S405 HDR10, Philips BDP7501, BPD7502 UHD Players
Oppo BDP-105D, 105, 93, Marantz AV7702MKII, NR1607. Xbox One S
Emotiva XPA5,UPA2, UPA200 & Mini X Amps
Speakers, Polk SDA-2, Monitor 10A & 5A, Axiom M80,
VP180, QS8, M2, QS4, ATMOS 7.1.4 & 5.1.2 NYGiants!

Not really. You can still use your display when technology changes, you just need a streaming device that handles the new stuff. s

I'd rather upgrade the streaming device every few years than my display, and also not hinder technology.

I think there's a difference between "hindering technology" and falling prey to companies trying to get people to spend money on new devices that only offer minor upgrades to previous models. But that's just my opinion.

Ahahaha on my FTV4KS, currently NO technologies are listed on the "play"/"front" page, not even HD/5.1. But everything, DV, atmos, HD, 5.1, HDR, HDR10 (which makes no sense, as HDR & HDR10 is the same, HDR10+ would be different) is under details.... So horribly inconsistant from device to device/app version to app version....

I don't know if Sony is limiting the bandwidth on PS4, cause just like Netflix the PQ on Disney plus isn't as good as other device. The XB1s has a noticeably sharper picture than the PS4. I've tested many movies and they all have a softer picture on PS4. The same thing like i tested with PS3 with Netflix and Amazon video. The PS4 has blocky artifacts all over in dark scene and even in a few daytime scenes. The PS3 with same movie has no artifacts and the picture is cleaner. It's streaming so yes there are a few compression artifacts, but it's nowhere near as bad as PS4. Some movies on Netflix even have lower bitrates on PS4.

Disney plus handles compression better than Amazon video and Netflix. The PS4 still doesn't output the video like the XB1s does.

My 65X930E (an lcd) started doing the same. It appears to have happened after the last app update.

Disney Plus Audio Quality In 20K Plus Theaters

These days my theater is down since my VW5000 is out for repairs (If all goes well I should have it back and running by thanksgiving).
I have ATMOS setup 5.1.4 in my informal living room with a LG OLED.... so most of my watching these days is on this setup.
I got Disney Plus on November 13 and the Disney App on the LG OLED was not playing ATMOS.
Today I downloaded the App on my AppleTV 4K and watched parts of Star Wars: Phantom Menace in Dolby Vision 4k ATMOS...
I find the sound is terrific and way better than ATMOS on Netflix and other streaming companies - so much so that If this is confirmed I may not buy Disney movies of Kaleidescape!!! Just use streaming.
Since I don't have my theater up yet - request if any of the forum members with Trinnov theater can test this on movies available on disc/Kaleidescape and Disney Plus and give feedback on video and audio (Atmos) quality I will appreciate every much.

Just as a heads up those using Tapatalk can’t see the title

Just tested my B7 internal app, it’s triggering DV as expected. Haven’t had an issue with my AppleTV 4K app and that’s been working since launch.

The problem has been resolved.

Unplug the TV, hold the power button for 30 seconds, plug the TV back, turn on the TV /Disney app.
Maybe to fix Netflix, but not Disney+, not on my 86UH9500. Wish it was that simple.

Try contacting them during off peak times like very early in the morning or late at night.
