Advice for storing films not redeemable on Movies Anywhere
I am trying to create a digital solution for my cabinet full of DVD's & Blu-Rays. Initially I thought of my own home network/NAS where I could rip all the discs in to files, but I quickly thought of the fact that this will be quite the endeavor, with several terabytes to manage, backing the data up, and other issues that may arise. Not to mention that I feel like this type of thinking will be old news by the time I get settled in to it. Things are heading toward the cloud and I am OK with that. Enter the Vudu Disc to Digital, where you scan the UPC codes to get the digital version(s). I think this is a great concept, and I'm willing to pay the $2-$5 conversion fee so that I do not have to store the file(s) locally. However, some of my favorite titles are not eligible for this program at the moment. What has been the solution for you guys - is there a hybrid way to do this, or some sort of workaround, to store DVD's that aren't as well known in to these systems, or at least a way for them to be accessible in one place? I feel like Movies Anywhere is a great idea, however with some of the missing titles, it brings me back to the drawing board as I will still be searching around multiple apps looking to see where I have certain films stored.
Thank you for any guidance. If it helps with solutions, I am a MAC user, and also have a Roku TV.
