Global Hit Debuts One Week Early on Digital

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – August 2, 2013 – “The suspense is killer!” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) in the fast-paced, pulse-pounding epic WORLD WAR Z, debuting on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D™, DVD and On Demand on September 17, 2013. Greetings,

The press release doesn't indicate that it is the re-mastered IMAX version so my guess would be it is the original but I will inquire.

Sept is looking good to me for BR's to get. Just ad this to the list of Iron Man 3 and Star Trek. With Oblivion out today, it's a pretty solid line up. I am looking forward to the unrated cut of WWZ. I was hoping they would have an extended or un-rated cut.

It ain't easy being green.

I preordered the 3D version a while back, blindly. Hoping I'm not disappointed and I look forward to a review thread in a couple months.

thanks Ralph!

Its getting increasingly harder to understand what aspect ratio, what version, and the cropping method (for IMAX releases if applicable) applied pre-release. I've cancelled two items I had on pre-order as a result already, this one as well as Star Trek 3D.

Blind 2D buy for me also. I'm normally not a zombie movie fan but I can't deny the hype on this one. Plus I need MORE DTS! Thanks for the heads up Ralph.

Does FYE get the releases on the first day? (I'm assuming they do) I buy mostly CD's (good deals on perfect used ones) there but I know they have many BD's, though they are a little pricey.

I never used to buy from fye but when you pre order the blus its so much cheaper than their regular $30 prices. If you go to FYE and pre order the 3D version of this its only $19.99 which is cheap for a new 3D release. They are also taking pre orders for Star trek into darkness 3D for the same price.,

that's interesting. I just went to check though and could only find prices similar to what you are saying in the 'used' column? Do you have a link by chance?

I went in expecting the worst (i.e., some ADHD focus grouped schlockfest) and was amazed at how good it was.

Pacing? Strong characterization? Tension? What are these doing in a AAA Hollywood blockbuster anyway?!?! Didnt they miss the meeting where all new movies are tailored to appease immature Chinese audiences who would only watch an awesome show like Game of Thrones with advertisements like this:

No doubt Brad Pitt is at Hollywood re-education camp. /rant

Great movie. Buying on day one.

I saw it at the theater and will be a definite buy. Based on the sound at the theater, i can't wait to hear the LFE at home. Also curious to see how some of the CGI looks on blu-ray.

I would assume that the unrated version is 2D only and a 3D unrated cut is not going to be included.

Looking forward to getting this film on Blu Ray. Love that a 7.1 audio mix is part of the package. Wish there was a list somewhere of all Blu Rays that actually do come with a lossless 7.1 mix.
