No. The worm holes and black holes in Interstellar are based on THEORY. Theories that not everyone in the scientific community can even agree on. The best they can do is prove it with mathematics. A black hole has never been observed, neither has the existance of worm holes. There have been thousands of theories that were proven by mathematics but years latter were disproven by real world observation.

Give me an example of what was fake about Gravity that a common person would notice?

The link you previously posted about the inaccuracies of Gravity were very scientific and only people deep into NASA would actually know those things.

For example:

1. Debris was too big. But that was answered because the event happenned AFTER

2. Cloony's Jetpack is no longer used today. Big deal. No one cares. And no one would know except NASA

3. Cloony's Superman move would use too much propellant. Really? You really think the average movie watcher would know this or care?

4. Getting from Hubble to ISS. Not possible with their current orbits. But guess what? Do average people know that? HELL NO. And who says they didn't change the orbits in the movie?

5. Suit abuse. Suit would be destroyed in real life. Really? Really? Who cares. And who knows this? Making a super strong suit is alot easier than making a ship that go through a worm hole.

To the average viewer Gravity was very realistic.

Greetings,

I think my prior post was pretty clear so let's not continue the debate warrior1994. I suspect you may have been in the middle of typing your response when I posted mine so let's consider it done and move forward. Thanks!

do listen, not everything's made for everybody.

i for one went to the 70mm IMAX and was dozing off into light sleep in the first hour, i saw the rest another day and didnt miss anything.
The movie wants to be special, but it kind of missed it.

sound is excellent for the bass people.

Telling someone to rent it because you fell asleep is terrible advice. If you fell asleep and didn't like it that is your problem and your problem only.

I saw it in cinema and as you say been glued to the action and did not notice the multi aspect. Only saw it when played at home.

Telling someone to buy it was in response to telling someone to rent it so yeah it made sense and much more sense than falling asleep in a movie theater. Go out and support the movie and not follow the advice of someone who fell asleep and didn't like it from the beginning. The majority of people that have seen this movie liked it or really liked/loved it so telling someone to go out and buy it is more supportive than your suggestion. Get over it man. What you said was beyond stupid and stop trying to justify it.

I think the AR only shifted in IMAX showings of the movie (like, real IMAX) but I could be wrong on that.

I like this movie a lot. It is heavily flawed, and the third chapter (of what I think was 4 distinct ones) was unnecessary and kind of goofy... but the movie also got my imagination brewing -- and that is something a movie has not done for me in a very, very long time. For that alone I give it a high recommendation. It isn't as sure footed as 2001, and this one does take a few cues from that one, but it's still a well made movie overall, overly complicated by an ambitious writer/director that I think was afraid of letting his fans down by telling a simple story. Mind you, none of the complicated aspects were confusing, just somewhat unnecessary.

The funny thing for me was watching it a second time made me much more forgiving of the flaws that bothered me the first time through. I found this whole messy thing really entertaining and creatively interesting, and makes me hope like hell that some kind of inter planetary exploration is possible in my lifetime.

I know for Gravity we made sure we watched it in a semi-darkened room. This seems like it may call for the same treatment to enhance those space scenes.
Hi Discone, I watched it twice in the theaters, have purchased it and watched at home via iTunes, and am eagerly awaiting it's release on Blu-Ray on Tuesday and concur with your thoughts. A lot of the movie has dark or high contrast scenes that really pop with a darkened room (the darker the better! . Enjoy!

My dMax theater did not show switching AR's either.

I've seen the movie three times at the theaters... 1) regular big screen, 2)dMax single aspect ratio, 3)Film iMax switching aspect ratio.

best version? Film based iMax with switching aspect ratio... HANDS DOWN!

I too feel Interstellar was much better than Gravity, though I still would rate Interstellar 7/10. And to whomever suggested it is MUCH better than 2001, I'm fairly certain even Christopher Nolan would slap you across the cheek like Cher in Moonstruck, yelling "Snap out of it!"

I will say the last 20 minutes or so was actually my favorite by far. To cinematically and thematically represent the construct of a multiverse, and tying back to the origin of the story was some innovative filmmaking.

On the flip, the conflict segment with the "uncredited actor" was rather silly and diversionary, despite its metaphorical purpose. It reminded me a little of the Tim Robbins scene in "War of the Worlds" - that film would have benefited by its exclusion and the heavy handed way it was illustrating the evolution of Cruise's character from self centered to protector.

Just got the BD at Walmart. Someone doesn't know what day it is.

Comes with a "Collectible IMAX Film Cell from an actual film print." Mines a shot of the teacher at the school meeting.

I checked online and all three local northern NJ Walmarts's show the standard release available for pick up - the Collectible version shows available Monday.

I don't care about the collectible, so ordered the standard version and will swing by to pick up in a few hours. I'll see if the collectable is on the floor early anyway. Nice catch...

Please check out the audio on the standard version and let us know what it is. The website says DTS Master audio, but it is often wrong.

Walking through Walmart, there is no sign of Interstellar...but you can order online with store pickup, and they will hand it to you. Didn't know, but even the standard version has a 70mm frame - here's mine

this, of course, from the famous scene where Cooper, about to experience a profound moment, stubs his toe on CASE as he's temporarily blinded by an in-camera lens flare created by uncredited second unit director JJ Abrams...
