The article I read yesterday states that as of 9/9, Disney started redeeming the UHD code on VUDU. If you purchased and redeemed prior to that date, that you would need to call Disney to request the upgrade. I just called them and it was a simple process with no fuss at all. It only took a few minutes. They added it to my Disney account and since it is linked to my VUDU account, it immediately showed up.

I just contacted Disney thru their website to hopefully initiate an exchange for my steel book disc. My disc also freezes at 1:04 and goes straight to 1:08. I can rewind from there to about 1:07, but any past that and it goes way back to about 1:02.

I used the "contact us" option on disneyanywhere.com to ask them to update my Vudu listing to UHD, but nothing yet.

do we need to email an address instead?

It would be quicker to just call them Monday. My phone call took about 5 minutes or less.
I had no hold time at about 5:40pm, explained to the rep what I wanted, gave him my email address, he pulled up my Disney account & confirmed my Ultraviolet & VUDU accounts connected, he inputted something on his end, told me to check my VUDU account, and bingo.

Director Gunn said in a featurette that the songs he chose were a very important part of the story. Unfortunately using songs that were compressed from Day 1 and now adding more compression and an overemphasis of bass - they sounded like a muddled mess and took me out of the movie.

My VUDU version was upgraded to UHD today. I was an early redeemer so I had to contact support, which I did through the website. Do yourself a favor and just include a PDF copy of your receipt if you purchased the 4K disc or Best Buy steelbook. Painless enough.

I have yet to view it in UHD HDR or DV, just 3D, which was excellent. So this will give me at least 2 more viewings since the movie is very re-watchable to me.

I was just about to order this 4K HDR disk until I ran across this:

https://realorfake4k.com/my-product/...-galaxy-vol-2/

I don't understand why they would downscale the movie to 2K after being shot in 8K and not downscale the 4K version directly from the 8K master, which seems like it would give much better quality than upscaling the 2K version. Yes, it's probably cheaper this way, but it can't be much of a difference since they have to scale it twice anyway.

They are probably planning in selling a 'full 4k' improved version and then when sales slow on those they will make an ultimate 'full 8k' version available

Ralph,
I have been scouring around trying to see if you ever did a review of the (newish) original 'Guardians of the Galaxy' 4K UHD version (I thought it was out in late 2019.

I would love to hear your opinion and others on THAT particular update, as I personally liked the FIRST one a bit better than "Vol. 2"

Is THAT a future review (or already done and I just cannot find it? I did see the 1080p/Blu-ray review (and of course, it was a great "Ralph Potts" review). Would just like to see what folks think of the 4k re-do.

The 4K disc looks great, upscaled or not.

Greetings,

I didn't have the opportunity to review the first Guardians of the Galaxy's 4K UHD release. However, I did pick it up and, you can feel free to add it to your collection. No worries about pic and sound.

The video stream of this on Disney-Plus was outstanding. Even the Atmos was an upgrade over typical streamed audio.
