I watched this movie during Hurricane Dorian and I thoroughly enjoyed it. From strictly a technical standpoint, this may be the best Godzilla in that it benefited from modern technology so it was a visual and auditory treat for me. Although I was watching the digital copy, the 5.1 movie track was a sonic feast. It had both my subs rocking with plenty of discreet sounds as well as rear panning. This is certainly not a movie to be taken seriously, but for pure entertainment. Again, the movie was good to me. I can't wait until my 3D version arrives so I can compare the 7.1 sound of it to the 5.1 sound of the digital copy.

I have a friend who keeps saying this film contains a lot of religious innuendos. Does anyone else see this?

I guess this movie does have religious connotations and it is offensive to some folks. Below is a quote I read from a reviewer of the movie on the Amazon site:

"I've been a fan of Godzilla movies for nearly 5 decades. Although I bought this movie, I am deleting it from my library and won't be watching any more from this franchise. The sacrilegious scenes with Ghidorah and the cross in the foreground are not only unnecessary but are also inappropriate. The blasphemy and profanity in this movie are also unnecessary. We'll be watching classic Godzilla movies from now on, but none from this franchise. If you can't make a movie without blasphemy, profanity, and/or sex, then perhaps you should pursue a career in something else."

I can't believe it. Wow! This is really stupid.

Film was just OK. Really bad dialogue and attempts at humor. But some some demo worthy scenes in 4K for sure

What's really stupid? Including the cross, or discarding the disk because of it?

I just watch it after the price was drop on Amazon by $10. My O my what a sub fest' I have to check my foundation for cracks. Top tier for LFE. Movie was fair. The real actors were the Titans. Love the music score from the original Godzilla. Color was decent at times. The monsters were excellent' Plot was okay for a Godzilla movie. I like the 2014 Godzilla better for plot. And for the poster above. You get that upset over a Godzilla movie' Blasphemy ' profanity ' you have to be kidding. How do you even watch TV now if that offends you. Over all a fun ride and demo sound. Just what Godzilla should be.

I have a friend whose wife researches how many curse words are in a movie before she deems it worthy for them to watch. I don't know what the appropriate amount is nor did I ask, because I was honestly stupefied and amused at the same time. And I really wish I was making this up!

Your friend's wife is Tipper Gore? I'm impressed.

(When Al Gore was US VP, his wife Tipper lead the charge on labelling records for objectionable content. Apparently, Al and Tipper have never divorced, although they are leading separate lives. I don't recall whether DVDs were popular when Gore left office in January of 2001.)

I would say discarding the disk because of it. A cross is not a sacred relic as it was the common method used to punish people in the Roman empire. Some men made it sacred. I'm just glad I know world history.

That was my guess, but I wasn't sure.

I agree with the sentiment, but I'm no Christian, so I don't have a lot of empathy for some views. I have to be careful to avoid offending people accidentally. (Sometimes, I do it deliberately.)

I turned it off after 90 minutes, we couldn't watch anymore. We have this glorious new surround system and this was the first movie we watched....and we couldn't take it haha. We love mindless action, but this was just bad.
That being said i may finish it one day on my own when my wife is out.

I think that the IQ drop resulting from watching it is temporary.

Was hoping King Kong would have a cameo. Won't be long before they square off, Godzilla vs Kong is scheduled for release on March 13, 2020.
