About time, another dent in the wallet.

Deer Hunter has stuck with me since the first time I saw it in a theater when first released.

Day one for me. The Bluray looks real fine, so the 4K HDR has my expectations high.

A top five movie of mine.

I'm very glad Deerhunter is coming to the US. Probably 1 of the best anti-war Vietnam war movies made, alongside AN, Platoon & FMJ. Powerful drama & superb acting. It's way overdue for the US to get this. Unfortunately a day late & dollar short for me since I purchased the 4K 40th anniversary UK release 1.5 yrs ago; it was released in Aug 2018.

Not only did Studio Canal beat Shout Factory to the punch time-wise but the UK 40th anniversary set is 4 discs & booklet vs the normal 2 disc release.

Will be interesting to read how the 2 remasters compare.

Worth getting! If I didn't already have the UK 4K, I'd be all over this. I still remember the reaction in the theater at the ending; you could hear a pin drop. Powerful film.

This in one of Shout's first UHD discs. They have had films scanned in 4k but only released in 2k in the past. This is a good release to start with. maybe Criterion will be next ?
