What is your back row's eyes-to-screen distance?

Please let me know your first impressions. I am so waiting for mine, and need some first hand reviews. I am concerned about the clicking of the dynamic iris. There are several folks that experience it and others that don't. I am really worried, and since you just got yours, it would be interesting to see/hear if it exists on a brand new outta the box unit.

I have no DI clicking sound

I had posted this breif overview in the main projector thread a few pages back:

Projector is the NX7
  • I can see the individual pixels
  • test pattern of LAZY DOG is great from an OPPO outputting 12bit, 4:4:4, UHD Auto.
  • Tone mapping is pretty fantastic.
  • No more black crush in HDR.
  • Little to no streaking on my unit.
  • Wish it were 50%+ brighter so I could use the DCI/Rec 2020 color filter
  • Out of the box convergence was poor, but a quick whole panel adjustment of red and blue cleared that right up!
  • Good Focus from corner to corner
  • Easily the best picture I have ever seen on my 150" wide screen. 172" Diagonal 16X9 equivalent. Finally got the looking out the window look that I used to have on the smaller sub 100" screens 10 years ago.
  • Auto tone mapping is good for screens up to ~120" wide if close to 1.0 gain, I used a manual mode for mine.
  • Contrast is not as good as the RS540, but the picture is so good you likely wont miss it.
  • Firmware 1.17 was pre-installed.
  • Very happy with the NX7.

SOWK's Home Theater Build

Wow! Theater and lobby are amazing!! You have done an outstanding job at making the theater and lobby of my dreams!
I’m currently doing my lobby and I’m thrilled with it, but yours is the nicest I’ve seen. Love the projector you have as well, I’ve got the epson 5040 paired with an Seymour xd 160” wide 16:9 screen and I really like it, but I hope to try out a jvc one day.
It was a pleasure going through your thread!

That's Awesome. I also have a Launchbox Big Box setup. But I unfortunately don't have room for a cabinet so my computer is just hooked up to my 4k tv. I have a ton of systems, the full NES and SNES catalog, I think the full Sega Genesis catalog, PS1 and PS2, MAME, Wii and a bunch of Handheld systems. I think I have other systems but I forget which right now. I also have a bunch of Steam games on it. I forget my system specs I just remember that I have a GTX 970 graphics card.

Hey Sowk I'm thinking about doing a Jtr setup and was curious how the slant8"s are as surrounds? I was wondering do you think the 228htr would be overkill?

Not at all, but I would just check with Jeff and see what he thinks as well. I believe the slanted 8’s/Straight 8’s have a wider dispersion pattern though if that is important to you.

Beautiful looking theater and great work with your lobby.

Where did the ticket booth come from? Is it attached to a door? (sorry if I missed that discussion).

The booth is a fantastic touch and the candy concession was part of the original idea for the theater I built. I should probably get around to making a thread about it though I failed to stop and take any photos during construction.

1 suggestion I'd have is to replace your static Batman poster with a digital poster display. That way you can have all the Batmans and then some!

Getting a thread going for the Clanhold Cinema, here's a couple photos of the ticket booth I built. It's just MDF and 2x2 with some molding and a sheet of plexi.
